Is the 1967 chevelle frame the same as the 1967 skylark frame? o No: will it fit a 400 GS. I know some one that has a clean 1967 frame for a chevelle and I need one for my GS. Thanks Kingdaddycreel
Yes, the frame will fit. The difference is that all GS's used the boxed convertible frame. Therefore a hard top Chevelle frame will not be the same as it is not boxed, but it will work just fine.
I have a bare skylark frame that I notched and boxed the rear tire area(for tire clearance) already on if your interested. It still has all the stock front susp. on it so it will steer and roll. No rear in it though.
reply frame still need answer I still would like to know about the 1967 frame since it is close by and in good shape.
Thanks Harvey some how when I read the post I skipped over your entry. Thanks for input it answers my question.
Guys, A 1967 chevelle frame is the same as a 1967 skylark frame, but would be different then a 67 GS frame because they are boxed. Duane
Roger (Oph) once posted that the Chevelle frame is different. Here's the quote I saved: >>Another importance difference in early A-body frames is the '64-67 Chevelles have different frame horns than '67-67 BOP A-bodys. If one knows what they are doing & is set up right fabrication wise, one can take a '64-67 ElCamino frame & make it into a '64-67 Chevelle convertable frame. Can't do the same for BOP A-bodies's as not only is the front frame section different in the Chevelle frame, but the boxed inserts are different as well. Roger, OPH<<<
i had parted a '67 gs340 out a several years ago that wasnt boxed . were they boxed only on the gs400' s and convert's ?
To the best of my knowledge, boxed frames were used on: 64-69 Sportwagons (called Skylark wagon in 64) 64-72 Conv. 65-66 Gran Sport (hardtop & conv.) 67 GS 400 All other hardtops (incl. 67 GS 340), 4 dr and station wagons were open frame. Mark
66 Skylarkpost The GS-340 Did not have a boxed frame. I see that you parted one several years ago. Do you have anything left that is 340 related? I would be interested, as I have two GS-340's
gs340 hello , yes i saved all the trim and stuff and still have everything but the interior and body . the rearend housing is in my 66 and so are the hood scoops. i'd like to find a plain 67 someday and clone it . being i have saved everything id rather not part with any pieces . although the grille of course has seen better days. sorry . the car was all original and complete . i couldnt get a title and it was rough -steve
Steve: To bad for me :ball: Please e-mail me at sticeman@usadatanet.net if you ever decide not to use the parts. I'd be mighty interested in them. Thanks Tom
