Don't even get many views on my offerings much less any bids. Economy starting to take it's toll, I guess.
I gave up on it. Everytime I search for car parts i get 30k ads for floor mats and air fresheners with rando parts mixed in.
It's much more difficult to sell the cheapo parts on there anymore...but the good valuable stuff still gets attention. Searching for parts is a whole different animal. I've got saved search parameters that weed out a lot of that crap that says it "fits 19xx Buick" ....then I usually defer to the auction only items, or best offer ads. That usually weeds out the rest of the trinkets like suicide knobs and random Buick emblems that fit nothing.
I liked ebay much better 20 years ago when it was like an online yard sale/swap meet. Now I search for stuff and get hundreds of items that really have nothing to do with my search. It is annoying having to wade through all the crap to find what I am actually looking for...
My quick solution is to put “used” in the search. Not great but weeds out the expensive chassis junk listed 400 times.
I have this saved on my computer. I copy and past it in search bar along with what I'm searching for.
-fits -cover -key -manual -book -article -photo -accessory -keychain -chip -chips -postcard -postcards -watch -print -brochure -chart -spec -specs -kit -magazine -catalog -charts -ad -advertisement -keys -mat -mats -decal -filter -sunvisors -shocks -list -module -muffler -exhaust This is the greatest thing ever. Thank you so much.
It used to be much better, but now you get hit with sales tax on the item and the shipping. Shipping has gotten crazy, and now I see some of the small vendors dropping due to the Govt requiring tax reporting. I think a lot of the non commercial guys will just go back to selling at swap meets.
It really was like a yard sale 20yrs ago ... I used to get a lot of great Harley used parts. Apart from everything else noted above, Facebook Marketplace really seems to have taken over now. Adam's list of ''dash'' phrases to drastically weed out crap in search results is great - I have been using ''-fits'' for years but not the others.
I think you can ad more to it now. When I made that list, they limited my search characters to something like 75.
