    1972Mach1 Just some M.M.O.G. guy.....

Don't know what engine or 4 door you are talking about, but look at the thousands and thousands of other unrestored Nailheads posted out there. You're obviously not going to change your mind that the color is incorrect no matter who, or how many "whos", tell you differently, so I'll just leave it at that. I'll go with what the guys that were actually "there" tell me.

I own a 1964 Electra with a 401. Grandma bought it brand new, off the showroom floor so to speak. They were not blue, but rather Buick green. I was the very first person to sit in that car at the age of 6. I am positive of this information.

    What's out back for gears?
Every 401 from 64's that iv'e seen to my Pops 66 Wildcat 401 was green with the exception of my 66 GS 401.

Yup the color of this engine should be the Buick Green or Nailhead Green. The color on my engine was changed in the 90s to match the exterior color of the car. The car originally was paint code CC White/White with Black interior. I dont have a buildsheet for it but when this engine gets rebuilt it will go back to Buick Green. Also the color of the engine in the 4 door parts car is Buick Green and surface rust. Its only a 401 though.
