Sounds like a very cool car indeed! Hope it's still around.

I had a similar car - If you hadn't said it had an N25, sport mirrors, & SS wheels, I'd have thought maybe even the same car. Mine (also Burnished Cinnamon - No vinyl top) also had standard (Sandalwood) interior/std. steering wheel, dog dish caps, 350/auto but also had A/C, rear def., posi, & disk brakes.

I also met her at 88 GS Nationals. Her car wheels was the reason I went with silver colored SS wheel on my 71 GS350 4 speed not the grey color.

IIRC, she was interviewed at one of the GS Nationals and it made it on to one of the official videos. The trick would be to find it and convert the VHS to digital, after getting copyright permissions first, of course.

I parked next to her at several GS Nationals shows. She was av very nice lady. I thought she was a librarian. Maybe I am wrong. Golden years memory not that good.

You are correct Zach...a librarian. Very sweet lady that I always enjoyed meeting every year.

I'm still amazed that I have never seen these wheels or at least don't remember.
If I saw a GS with them I probably would of thought some used some late 70's or early 80's Camaro wheels with a Buick center cap..

    Great great movie!
Tex Cobb's character in that movie was what he is in real life:D What a chin he had when he fought Holmes:eek:

I bought a '71 Skylark back in the late '80's that had them. Was a pretty orig. car & must've looked it up in the sales lit. & seen they were optional or maybe even the PO mentioned something.

Do you know if Pontiac or Olds used a similar wheel? I'm thinking that I have seen them on a Lemans or even a GTO..

I went to my massive magazine collection last night (imagine thousands of magazines) and found the silver GSX feature article in the very last issue at the bottom of the pile of Guide to Muscle Cars magazines. I didn't expect it to be in that issue since they didn't list "'71 GSX" on the cover like they did with the other feature cars. I received this magazine in the mail 34 years ago when I was 14. Wow, time sure passes quickly.

Zach as I was going through the stack of Guide to Muscle Cars magazines looking for the Vickie Jo Irving's silver GSX I ran across this issue on the top of the stack that says "'71 BUICK GSX" on the cover and thought I found her car. I open it to find this beautiful '71 GSX instead. :) Somehow I even had two copies of this issue. I scanned it this morning as well so I thought I'd post it here for everyone else to enjoy. If you want one of the magazines I have, or if you want full size, higher resolution scans of this article about your car, send me a PM. I am shocked that Guide to Muscle Cars featured two 1971 Buick GSXs in 1988 considering they only produced six issues per year at that time. They featured lots of Buicks.

Once I saw Zach’s car I knew what I wanted.

I tracked a 71 GSX Stratomist Blue Stage 1 auto for 10 years before I could buy it. Then I sold a 70 Yellow GSX 455 auto and a 71 350 GSX car to finance the purchase.

I wanted one with a white interior, but mine is black. Can’t have everything.

Yeah I could have done that, but how does it make sense to purchase a car that is historic and then change it???????

That’s kind of defeating the purpose of buying it in the first place.
