My Dad is going in Friday for a biopsy. They found a couple of somethings in his left lung. Lets just pray that it turns out to be nothing. As some of you know my Grandmother passed 2 years ago from lung cancer. My Mom has been beside herself over this and we won't have the results of the biopsy back till next Thursday.

    Thanks,

    Alan,

Here's hoping it amounts to nothing major. Will keep your dad in our thoughts.

Thank you for the well wishes. Unfortunately they found a tumor in the bronchial tube. The doctor said he thought it was a small cell carcinoma. We will have the biopsy report back Thursday and then on Friday we go to see the oncologist.

Please keep my Mom and Dad in thoughts and prayers.

    Thank you, Alan

Thanks for the well wishes. Here is the latest om my Dad.

We got the call yesterday to come in and see the doctor they had the preliminary report back. It is small cell lung cancer. He gets an MRI of his head and some blood work done today and a PET scan Thursday. If everything checks out and it is limited to the lung he will start Chemo and radiation Monday. The doctor was upbeat about getting the upper hand on it because my dad is very healthy.

But I went to the National Institute of Healths website and the odds are that only 1 in 10 people who get this are still alive in 2 years and out of that group only 6% survive past 5 years.

But I know my dad is a tough old man and if anyone can be beat this he can do it.

I am married to a two time survivor, so we've beat the odds both times. If she can do it, so can he!!!

My dad has undergone two rounds of chemotherapy so far and next Tuesday they are going to do a CT scan to see if the chemotherapy is working. If it is they will start radiation treatments. So lets hope the CT scan comes back with good results.

My Dads CT scan was good the Doctor said the tumor in his lung had been reduced by 50%. Now two more rounds of chemotherapy and then another CT scan.

    So hooray Dad!

Dad had his post chemo CT scan yesterday and all the small cell cancer is gone. He does have a small spot that they are going to biopsy and either remove or treat with radiation. But all in all it was a great report.

Dad, Started radiation treatment this week on his lung and brain. He is a little skeptical about the brain treatment. But so far so good.
