I need some inspiration for the '63 LeSabre wagon I just scored. How about some pictures of nailhead engine bays to get me motiviated?

This is my Riviera's last year, done some more improvements since then. The paint is more red than the pics make it look, and matches the pinstripes I did on the aircleaner, which matches the pinstripes on the car:

I scored this air cleaner on eBay. The seller said it was on the Batmobile, which is entirely possible.

And my red '66. I went for a more stock look but added a 5 speed for more fun! And discs to make it safer. I have since found the correct oil breather and rad cover bolts.

Here's a pic of mine, 64 riviera. Detailed the engine added factory dual quad. Still need to clean the engine bay. Has a modified edelbrock air cleaner I picked up for cheap at a swap meet.

Wow Rhett, ours are almost identical. Looks like my valve cover has spilled oil on it though. You must have had a K & N filter.

That was my original numbers matching motor, which had a wicked blow by issue after I raced it 500-600 times. It would puke oil out that breather, you can see a little residue in the pic.It never did blow up though, so I took it out and pickled it...now it looks like this! Still runs beautifully, and was running 14.6's when I pulled it.

I was running a K&N filter sitting on a ring of 3/8 hose, now I just run a 3 1/2 in tall paper filter for the same effect.

Edit: Wow Jim! when I first wrote this post, I didnt look closely and though I WAS looking at the picture of my engine! Thats amazing!

Here is Norm's Roller Cam 401 I built. Prettiest I have ever seen. It goes too, made 400fhp in the car w/ accessories and an idiot tuning it. Pics are old, has dual quad FITech's on it. Was the first dual quad FITech Nailhead I had ever seen. Terrorizes the streets in Iowa in his 64 Lark. Also, it's painted in these pics, but I had the timing cover polished. Not sure why the installer decided to paint it, was beyond amazing w/ the polished Flowcooler water pump.

This is Rob J's 401 in his 65 Riv. Just a ridiculously clean stocker. I built the motor, he did all the detailing and paint work. As nice as it is, looked even better in person. Super crisp.

Its one of the smaller diameter repops - had to use my original base to get enough drop but will fab up something in spring. And get rid of that red heater hose!

Absolutely did not fit with the supplied base! Or the supplied air cleaner! In fact, I had to thin out the hood insulation so it didnt touch the top.

I used my original lower - you can see it sticking out of the bottom. Im hesitant to cut that up, but may try to find another.
