We've had the ability to "like" for sometime now. If you've been on here a while I assume your likes per post ratio is "watered down" somewhat. We all have favorite posters. Some because they are very experienced or particularly informative, some because they share so openly and honestly, and some just because they are so darn entertaining. We've lost some good posters along the way too. I realized that a current trend seems to be a reply getting a like, as 0pposed to the opening poster, which is a bit out of kilter. I personally am trying to like more OPs of late to even that score a little. We all want people to like our posts. Waterboy has a great ratio, and deservedly so!

Let me be the first to "like" your post. I think Waterboy fits in the "entertaining" category although he is also experienced.

Boy, I never thought this was a popularity contest. What are we in, high school?

What is the purpose of counting likes anyway?

Maybe we could have a 'dislike' button also. I could go on, but this whole "I have a high like count" thing seems rather juvenile to me. And when someone feels the need to tout their "like" count, I would suspect that they are rather insecure.

The site keeps track of likes. Sorry to see this thread bother you so much Steve. Maybe there is something about High School you're still upset about?

I was just trying to note some folks are well "liked". If that is to be labeled juvenile - well everyone has the right to their opinion. You're getting plenty of likes for your comments. Perhaps you should ask people to unlike your post immediately. :)

The like feature is often confused for the need for affirmation either by the person "liking" and the poster looking to guage if their content is likable. It isn't necessarily a reflection of reality though. Like it or not the like feature isn't a proper reflection of a persons merit. It is a noble effort to try to get people to use it with some consistency. And so goes the discussion on technology's impact on culture.

Well, we are all somewhat competitive and the large majority us are guys or we wouldn't be hanging out on V8Buick.

I prefer being some random guy, as they say, the gray man, the one few notice and doesn't stand out in a crowd. At least that's what I tell my self since I am not even in the top 10. LOL
