Ya, I know, but this ain't about politics, so let me indulge..

I'm going to see the new Top Gun movie tomorrow.. 9pm show GF not interested in action movies, so she won't be with...

Trailers look great.. Critics like it, many say better than the original.

Have to see it in the theater, to get the proper experiences.. since I am probably the last man on earth that does not have a 70" TV with surround sound.

    Whose going?

Not me. We only have a 60" in the living room. I don't watch movies in theaters anymore. My floor isn't sticky and I can pause the show to get a snack or take a break. Better yet, I can rewind if I miss some dialog.

I'm not a movie guy, but at home our largest is a 24". I know what you mean about folks with the huge tv's - I don't understand the need. Have fun and enjoy the movie.

Not a big follower of movies. The last movie I went to was Avitar. Actors are overpaid, and like to tell me how I should think. So no.

I lost interest when a few symbols that displease the PRC were removed.

I'm going to see it on Monday! Looking forward to it.

My GF and I usually see a lot of movies, and you are right Jim, the movie experience is way better in the theater than on TV (we have a 70" and 55").

You guys need to lighten up and enjoy life.. not everything has to be a political protest..

I don't give a rat's hind end about actors politics, personal lives, or whatever.. same for producers, studios and the like.

If they can produce a product that entertains me is all that I care about. My enjoyment is the key, they can go tilt at windmills all they like, no skin off my butt. And if they use a couple of the nickles I spent to consume their product, then no big deal..

I think if we all quit worrying about what celebrities do in their personal lives, we all would be better off.

Brad.. I like it.. priming up with the original. Would be doing that tonight also, but I re-watched it again here about a month ago, before I even knew there was a sequel that had been made.

Wow, got me thinkin'........the last time I went to a theater to see a new movie was when Casino came out, whenever that was.
I agree though, the best way to see a flick like Top Gun is on the really big screen. Let us know how you like it, maybe i'll cave and go see it myself.

TexasT Texas, where are you from

So, I asked the wife what was the last movie we saw at the theater. She looks at me funny and thinks for a second. And sez spiderman. Not sure which one. She said I went too but I don't remember.
We got a new 55" Samsung a couple months back when the 40" we've had for about 12 yrs wouldn't power up anymore. The guy wanted to sell us a warranty so I asked him how long he thought this new one would last. He said you would want a new one before that. I laughed and said we are her beacause the current unit stopped after twelve yrs. He said ok and then asked us to finance it. Again I declined and he called for a cart to bring it out to the front so we could load it in the truck. I guess we aren't the typical buyer.
I guess this new movie should be good. I remember when I went to Texas a&m and all these guys I met talked of flying an f14 like Tom cruise. I hadn't seen the movie so I didn't understand but the university had seen quite a jump in enrollment from people who had seen that first flick.

Won't do big screen, but will see it one way or another here at home (on small screen!).

Wifey (epilepsy) has difficulty with the up and down dark stairs, even the little lights that guide the steps at the theaters. Once she's sitting and comfy though, may be ok! We'll see.

I've been looking forward to this, happy they got it out there after all the delays that we've all been living with.

We don't usually go to theaters but am considering going to the new Top Gun movie at a theater. We have a 75" TV but don't think it would do the movie justice!

First and last time I stepped into a movie theater was 92... We both hated and left before the movie was over. Why on Gods green earth would I to go thought that BS again... BTW thats when people were half civilized..... As far as top gun goes well it's a tom blows movie so that basically means the flick will suck like the rest of movies... The firm was his only decent film reason Gene Hackman.....

Just got home from seeing it. A friend bought tickets and invited me. I did not really want to see it, but would up enjoying it immensely. Not a Cruise fan but he was great. The flying scenes were intense. Some unbelievable stuff, but it is a movie.

My Granddaughter works at a movie theater and is taking me to an employee only showing tonight that should be starting shortly. Not too excited about getting home at 2a. I’m getting too old for that kinda sh!t, but it’ll be fun. Looking forward to it.
I hope it is as good as the first one…..

I’m with ya, Jim. We have a 36in CRT television. It still works, so why get rid of it?

    Thanks,

We’re definitely gonna see it next week on the big screen at our new Epic theater. One of my favorite movies of all time! We also have a large lcd TV with calibrated home theater sound system but really enjoy the big screen experience with hot buttered popcorn and Coke. Before COVID we went every Friday and I think Top Gun will begin that tradition again.

    C’mon folks, lighten up.
