I have been out of the hobby for a bit , I am now looking for a 1970 estate wagon , prefer beautiful survivor or one done , dont have much time for a project, also looking for one with 3rd row seat , lots of grandkids, thanks kelly
The '70 EW was a B-body car, based on the 124 inch wheelbase LeSabre (but had the Electra 4 Ventiports) and didn't have the clamshell tailgate. Why not go for the bigger (Electra based) 1971-1976 Estate Wagons, the clamshell is so cool....? Here's a '75 Estate Wagon, the longest of the 1971-1976 GM clamshell wagons (233.4 inches):
My Grandfather had a 73 Pontiac Grandville Wagon I think it was called. Went on a long cross country trip with him in that wagon when it was brand new.. I recall that we had to wait to go, until he had enough miles on it to tow his travel trailer.. Don't recall anything from the actual trip, but I do remember that wagon.. he had it for a couple decades.. The clamshell worked until the day they hauled it off to the junkyard. I actually drove it in the 80's, as I did some repairs on it a few times.. was not as "boaty" to drive as it looked. Clamshells are cool, but then again so are high compression 455's, would be tough choice for me if I was in the market, and was not going to modify the engine. JW
While I like all the wagons, and the clamshell is cool, if a 71 came up maybe but really prefer the looks of the 70 and most importantly the motor, there are all great though
