:Comp: I'm looking for junkyards in Southern Minnesota that might have early 60's Buicks in them. Would prefer 1st Generation Riv's, but others models will do. Looking for core engine/trans and some interior trim/dash pieces. Any info will be appreciated! Thanks, Tim

  2. i do not know about minnisota but in wisconsin and norther minn. there are a few yards with them in
what year spasific do you need parts for?
    63/64?
i know of a car here that is in a barn, yes its in a barn.
that is complete yet and the guy would sell as well.
its 2 hours from me and he's a person without a phone so we just pop in on him and get parts
    he's always there.
    if interested say so.
you would have to do a road trip for sure.
    let me know
    Greg

    :beer Hi Greg,
Got to watch that Lapham Guy, likes them "cats WAY too much! Hope you and Todd got the Ventura home and the other stuff, too! I would like to hear more about the Riv near you in the barn, sounds interesting. I really need a passenger side dash/glove box door for a 63 Riv with A/C. I would really love to find a rebuildable 63 401 or 425 and a dynaflow. My black 63 runs ok, but the driveline is plenty tired. Love that California body though! Maybe Dan and I can catch up with you and Todd soon! Thanks, Tim McCluskey

  5. i thought that might be you tim but just did not know. :Dou:
    cool :bglasses:
me and todd will be coming through there from south dekota at the end of next week again
maybe you guys should do some 3-4 day road trips with us once :3gears:
get rid of that paying job and be bums like us.
todd thought you guys where great.
said we should meet up with you guys a couple times a year and hang out for a few days at a time. :eek2:
that car in the barn is complete and untouched
if you brought $300 and handed it to him i would say your going away with the car.
he has alot of 50's buicks there as well LOTS :jd:
he got banged up over summer and someone went in and cleared alot of stuff out while he was in the hospital, the guy is ticked and looking for blood. :blast:
but we knew him long enough that he treats us very decent.
the car is like 2 hours from me, straight north.
let me know when you guys want to come down and we'll play tour guide this time out. :beer
todd has a big house and i'll talk him into putting you guys up for a few nights. :)
    let me know
    Greg :TU:

    :Brow: Greg,
I would love to get rid of the job, but the wife sees it differently! LOL! I'll have sometime off over the holidays, and I don't mind looking at cars when the weather is cold! I'll have to make sure I get Dan hooked up with some new boots so his feet don't freeze up, you know gettin' old is tough on a guy! I have been watching for any posts about the Trent auction, wonder how many of the cars sold? We have heard about some yards down by Austin, MN, but that has been a couple years now and they may be gone too! Take care, Tim

    :) Hi Chad,
I grew up in St. Paul, then moved to N. St Paul in 84, then to Maplewood in 87. I have two 63 Riv's, a rough blue one and a decent black one. Also have a 41 Chevy pick up truck that is being street rodded. There are two local Buick Clubs, The Gopher State club and the Fireball club are both pretty active groups. We now have a regional coordinator for the ROA so there will be some other Buick related activies next summer as well. There are a lot of Riv guys around the cities, and about 4 or 5 of us go around to the local MN yards quite a few times a year. There are some "A" body Buicks around in the yards, but they very picked over. If you want, I can let you know the next time we go junkyardin'! Take Care, Tim McCluskey :Comp:

    Todd,
There are some cars of that vintage around, but they are getting fewer all the time. What kind of stuff are you looking for? Is it convert specific or would coupes and 4 doors help? Let me know, Tim :Comp:

    :) Hi Greg,
Dan and I were up at his lake place raking and blowing leaves on saturday, and found a 65 Riv to part out in the spring. Still looking for a buildable 63 401 or 425 and a dynaflow. There are some 65's in the yard at Siren, Wisc., have you and Todd checked that one out yet? They have a couple of 60 and 61 Pontiacs too. The guy said he was crushing soon, may want to check it out before their gone! Take Care, Tim :Comp:

    Greg,

The yard at Camp Douglas, WI has 3-4 '63-'65 Rivs. He has a decent black clamshell Riv, Think the brakes got soft so he stopped driving it. Whole bunch of '63 to mid 70's big Buicks.

    Jim,
Any idea about how far the Camp Douglas yard is from the Twin Cities? I would be coming down I-94. How complete are the 1st gen Rivs? Do you know the hours of operation and is the yard open on Saturdays? What about directions to the yard? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Tim :Comp:

    Tim,

Camp Douglas is located at mile marker 55, across from Volk Field along I-94. Aprox 160 miles from the cities. My guess is about 3 hrs, SE from where you are. Should call ahead and speak to Carl to be sure that he's around. His main focus is $$$$$$$, runs a towing business and knows the old car trade very well. Make sure to let him know that your from cow pie, MN. If you mention the Twin Cities, price will match accordingly.

Plan to spend most of the day, he has around 800 acres of old stuff.

    Good luck!

    Jim

Jim-Also, do you have a business name-phone number for Carl's yard? Greg-I got my cheater and also found your tire irons in my tool bag-(thought I was getting weak hauling that bag around!) Where are those 2 hours north of you '63 Rivs for Tim-and how was Sodak?

    BF2KNIGHT Buickless for now

I'm at the point to where I'm looking for trim pieces, interior and exterior, so in most cases body style doesn't matter....may even be able to utilize Electra or Riviera parts from the same era.

    looking for a 401 or 425

Hi, I'm new to the forum. My name is Ted. I have a 65 Riviera that I've been working to restore over numerous years, now that I can finally close to getting the car back to being respectable, I've found out that I've got a badly cracked block. If anyone knows of any 401' or 425's in the Twin Cities area or for that matter the upper midwest please let me know. Thanks , Ted

    :Comp: Hi Ted,
My name is Tim McCluskey and there is a fairly active Riviera group in the twin cities. A good friend of mine. Dan Lapham, may have a 401 of your vintage that he may be willing to part with. He is on this thread, so he would be easy to contact. What part of the twin cities are you in? I'm in Maplewood and Dan is in Hopkins. Welcome aboard! Tim, ROA 9686 :beer
