It's actually a Chevy choke that a lot of guys use on aftermarket intakes but it wasn't holding the choke flap totally open when warmed up, causing the car to choke for fuel. I wired it open today. Not overly happy about it, especially considering it worked 3 months ago but I couldn't have a fresh motor starving for fuel.
We definitely each have our own way of doing things no doubt about it....But break-in was done in the first 30 minutes, the best engine builder I learned everything from said to me once...” either it’s good or it ain’t, run it like it is, everything that matters was done before we changed the oil after 30 minutes” ............just sayin’ it’ll hold!
Great great read. What a bad a++ car with an awesome story and home. The slots were so seventies. I used to not care for them. Like them more now then I did then.
Thanks! I'm very lucky. Funny how it had so many owners and so many looks over the last 50 years. Now it's back where it began.
Thanks to @Paul Massicotte and his guidance last Friday, it was surmised that the choke rod was too short. Keep in mind this carb was rebuilt only 3 years ago and I didn't put it on until late in 2018. The whole time my choke door wasn't staying firmly open. This can be detrimental to an engine. Ask me how I know. Anyway....I ordered the correct one from Gessler last week and while it still needs a bit of tweaking, the choke plate doesn't want to close after it's warmed up or under acceleration. I call that a win.
