I replied to a thread yesterday with a title something like " Correct Buick Red Hi Heat Engine Paint" But I can no longer find the thread. I even went to my profile and look for my last post and it was not there. Has this thread been deleted?

    David,
Its not there. I noticed that you had posted in that thread as well. It does not show up in my posts when I did a post search.

Jim, that's the thread I was referring to.

It's possible there is a different thread you are referencing, that possibly could have been lost in the rounds of maintenance and db moving that took place. As mods, we can see deleted threads and deleted posts. You have none that I can find, so I'm guessing your post is lost. However, there are other threads about Buick red paint, try using the search function for "buick red" and you'll find plenty of info.

The link that Jim posted comes up as an invalid thread, maybe regular board members can't view it ?

The member who started the original thread within which 421 posted deleted the entire thread. Mystery solved.

I had a feeling that was the case but why?

There are many members who choose to delete their own threads after they've served their purpose. I also don't see the point in deleting that particular thread, but it is the OP's perogative.

This has always been the case. The original posting member can delete his thread. This predates the new software.

Ok so to close out this thread, just for convenience purposes, what's the Krylon paint code? :)

Edit - It's Krylon code 2114. I also hear Duplicolor has one but I have no clue what the code is for it.

Ok so it IS getting difficult to find however I just purchased a case of Krylon 2114 from http://www.utilitysafeguard.com/K02114-Engine-Paints-Buick-Red/

I called to speak with them and ordered it on the phone because I wanted to make sure I got what I wanted. They actually had none in stock but they called their Krylon warehouse in Illinois and they had it, so it ships right from the warehouse.

I saw where there's some websites that show a picture of the Krylon can with a red cap and the description in fine print says "green". Pretty stupid but half these websites probably don't update their web pages but once every 5 years.

I used Krylon Buick Red years ago and I changed carbs one day, dripped some gas on my intake and the paint came off. Anyone have this happen? Ive switched brands since then but was hoping it was a one off occurrence or they changed the formulation

Must have been a problem with the prep because mine has held up under gas, pwr steering fluid and regular use since 2008. As far as around the exhaust manifolds where they attach to the heads, every paint in existence will darken in that area, I don't care how good it is. Some faster than others, but they all will darken.

The Duplicolor code is DH 1608. It's the right color IMO. It was discontinued a year or more ago, but it may be found some places, I don't know. I have lots if anybody wants some.

My local Napa and Ace don't even show that Color code or the Krylon in thier comptuers.
Still loved the look on the clerk's face at Ace. So you're looking for Buick red? yup.....

I think in one of the many paint threads on here someone mentioned Sherwin-Williams owns Krylon, so a store might be able to make a batch for you? Correct me if I'm wrong.
