Nowhere in any of my threads did I say rebody anything. The fact is they don't make a whole Lotta reproduction parts for a 69. So why are you going to scrounge around and junkyards trying to find parts that you need when you can find all the parts on your rust free body.

Disagree. You can back half a car, then do fenders, doors, hood, nose. I know this horse has been beaten to death... there are MANY muscle cars that only retain the original frame or original firewall.. everything else has been replaced. This would / should be one of those cars that gets “saved”.
I am in the starting phases of the same type of car with my 70 GS. Due to the rarity, I am replacing almost everything on this car. This 69 Stage deserved the same fate....

Given your "like" to the opinion comment and the way you posted in reply #79, I think you may have sent an easily misunderstood message. Thanks for clearing up any misconceptions :)

BTW, I agree the easiest and cheapest thing to do would be to buy the nicest '69 hardtop Skylark you could find and part it out. However, asking prices for those are generally in the mid teens. It's going to be an up-side-down situation from there until the bitter end in all probability. Hence the eventual part out, I suppose.

    Unfortunately it's a 69 to start with it's not like a Chevelle.

I still feel bad that a piece of americana history is now being distributed but hopefully it will make the herd stronger with the quality parts that will be used on restoration projects

And one good example of this is one of the original Bullitt Mustangs. IIRC, the restored car is really basically 99% donor parts (NOS, etc.) attached to the original VIN tag. Still, it's referred to as THE car that was in the movie.

So..... Bob now has the whole car listed for sale for $5300 or best offer. When I inquired, he said he bought the car "without the original engine".... LOL>.... I think he forgot that he was advertising the 246 carb on ebay, and I'm pretty sure the original engine.... If the price was right for what's left, I would've bought it.. and if he was honest...

    Here's the qoute:

That’s just the way I got it . I think probably original engine was blown up a long long time ago and swapped in a 430

So, the car was not parted out but, you are suggesting the current owner took the numbers engine out and is reselling with a 430? o_O

    Linky?

If he sold the original engine, that was just dumb. The ‘highest and best use’ for the original engine BY FAR is with the rest of the car. It’s a novelty and a small bore core otherwise. (I know I’m stating the obvious, but damn! How dumb can you get?)

Unless-he doesn’t know how to check and one of his 40watt friends said ‘nah-that’s a big block. 400s are littler’.
That said, It’d be a cool car to restore with a 455 that looks like a 400, and $5300 isn’t unreasonable IF all the other Stage parts come with it. And you have a ‘69 car to pull everthing from. (I didn’t say rebody).

Buckets gone too. Glad he put how much it cost him to transport...like anyone would give a _ _ _ _. What a painful thread this is.

Sincerely hope the seller gets everything he deserves.

You can easily tell the true Buick faithful by threads such as this. If I buy a car it is to restore it to the way it came from the factory. I am fortunate enough to have the resources to do that. Have seen this to many times where the car was ALL there. Then "Oh I have to sell the carb to raise the money to finance blah blah blah". If you don't have the means to do the car justice, then don't buy the sonofabitch. It ain't rocket science folks. Anybody can be a money whore. Pisses me off. Rant over.

As identified earlier in this thread, the guy is a "sawz-all". Within 1 week of getting the car home he had it on ebay for $8900. After no takers, he began parting it out. The carb was listed (and sold). I am sure someone bought the RS engine and distributor for a total of $2000. The buckets went for $500-$600...No one else is knocking at his door to buy anything else from this car (if you look at his auctions, he has the hood and steering column for sale). So, now that he has made 2000-3000, just dump the rest for the price he paid and walk away....
