manifold and carb for a 340

  1. I know this is an old post but I'm trying to figure out what the advantage of the Edelbrock is over the factory Carter AFB? I'm having problems with the edelbrick that was installed by the previous owner and am rebuilding and going back to the AFB... My main issue is proper function of the st400 trans. I've tried and tried to fabricate proper linkage but after no avail I'm ready to go back to the oe carb. Any input is appreciated.

    I do believe you would be better off with the original carb. And Quadrajet Power does a good rebuild of the afb carbs if you looking for that. I’m sure it will be an improvement over your issues now. The edelbrock is universal, meaning it will get by on any type engine or size doesn’t mean it’s right.
