Just noticed that the car you photographed as a "1930s Mercedes sedan" is actually a post-war 1951-53 Mercedes 220. It's a retro bodystyle with very modern running gear. A fairly neat and fun car to drive back in the day. I've been looking for one of those for years, too bad that one is completely shot.
Here is one fs in GA. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/cto/2765345380.html and another http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/cto/2745003224.html
OK V-8 Buick People: Just a theory here. I think one of the reasons the chrome shines so nicely on the cars pictured here is because these cars might have been taken out of daily service not too injured by the elements because of the area they were from (dugh) and the second theory is that because the air quality has been dramatically improved all over the United States there is much less acid rain to contaminate and erode everything. Remember, it's just a theory. Any other ideas? Mitch

Hi Junkman, just joined recently, looking for 68 Buick Electra rear bumper in decent shape...don't know if you've come across one in your travels...Great post and pics, wish I lived closer and had the time to explore...tx again
Some of the "junkyard jewel Buicks" I came across. These were taken at Friendship used auto parts Tabernacle, NJ in June 2005. All really picked over, but you could imagine what they looked like new. Chris
