My 65 build.

It's actually a retrofit the previous owner did. Fits really well and goes with the stock gauges so I can see why people think it might be stock.

 

I had to look twice. Looked more modern. Sorry to be clueless.
It is the same for 70-72 A body Buicks and Oldsmobiles. You can mount a Super Tach II in the factory spot where the clock goes. Fits perfect.

Great car, great story, and I for one am glad you reconsidered the ls swap. (If you want to go fast with a Buick engine, you have several options. Small block Buick with work, SBB with a turbo, nailhead, big block, Procharged big block, Tomahawk, etc.). One note; the center caps you bought are for Skylark and GS Rally wheels; I don’t know if they’ll fit the big car Road wheels on it now. Nice work on it already, too!

Thanks Patrick, I think for now I'm going to enjoy the 300 until it gives up the ghost. Then at that point consider all my options on rebuilding vs swapping. I'm in no hurry to so the swap anyways. I'd rather swap in a transmission with more gears and really enjoy the car first. I test fit a cap and it worked on the rear but I forgot to try the front ones, I feel like they might rub.

Which is the correct center caps for these wheels and model?

 

The caps for those wheels are the coolest ever; they’re big cones with ribbed sides. Wildcats got a Wildcat head, Rivieras got a stylized R, and Electras (and presumably leSabres) got the trishield.

Mitch R is a member here and makes these. He also has really nice nuts. (Once you see his nuts you can’t help but hold them, roll them around in your fingers and admire them.)

Ok, I've seen those caps before on ebay. Not too many compared to the ones I bought. They are a unique cap. Nice!

I'll have to check out Mitch's nuts later and see what's the buzz!

You mentioned a brake swap. Normally a must fix on most classic cars but 60s Buick front drums are very different. They used huge aluminum drums up front, stopped well and a fair bit better at displacing heat. If the drums are not too thin, add a new set of shoes and they are pretty stout. I forget whether that's a dual master... if not I would surely want to swap that. New discs are certainly nice but unlike other cars of the era they may not be required...use dollars for all the other stuff you do need....

I found caps for my 1985 LeSabre is some unlikely places.
One was from a fellow who said his wife had a buick and the flange let the cap fall off in the garage. Was able then to just buy a new cap so the broken one sat on a shelf for about 20 years. gave it to me for $5.00.
Bought two when I put out word I was looking for some on a couple hunting forums I belong to. they were on one of the guys wood hauling trailer. got them for $20.00

Not an exact match but better than seeing the rust around the lug nuts.
