My dealings with John Massoud..Not Good

If John is such a stand up guy, why are you speaking for him. Face it, he`s a crook. John said this, John said that, bla, bla bla. Let John speak for himself.

 

Guys,
this started with a call from John for me to defend his honor on the forum. Johnno, Doug - as much as I hate it because I truly thought that John was a stand up guy - I have to concede that for whatever reasons he does not want to answer for himself. There will always be an excuse and yes, he did help me at the track, but both of you answer me this....
Would you be able to look someone in the eyes after (as you are BOTH aware because you were there) a family taking your word for everything you said as gospel and treating you like family, buying meals out every night in BG at the Nationals 2 years in a row....and taking over $17,000.00 for a motor and sending it out with a used flywheel (but I paid for and have receipts for a new one) a second hand harmonic balancer (same story) brand new aluminum heads that have to be sealed around the head studs with RTV (same story, and he called to make sure it was re-applied when I had the washer incident) and a dyno sheet that he knew full well was "tweaked" so the numbers would look better (not just mine the reports keep coming in) .....then turn around on this very same forum and list the parts I paid for in the parts for sale section....would you be able to look that person in the eyes?

Great timing too because my motor had just shipped out to Texas so I could get it in the car for BG.....Is that enough for ya, but it gets better than that - then, because we did not believe that it could happen again - and every time I talked to John it sounded like his world was crashing around him not to mention that Dad having learned from the first motor set down ground rules for John to build him a motor....that he accepted and then Dad had to go re-BUY his OWN parts because John had not paid the people who he had actually building the engines for him...EVEN THOUGH HE HAD BEEN PAID UP FRONT - EVERY TIME HE ASKED FOR MORE....and then had the balls to borrow $1500.00 to go to the Nats because he was again down on his luck? Could you look that man in the face KNOWING that the motor you just charged $20,000.00 for did not even make 600HP so you had the dyno sheets doctored? AND AGAIN...HE DID ALL OF THIS WITH A CLEAR CONSCIENCE AND HAD NO PROBLEM LOOKING US STRAIGHT IN THE EYE, ACCEPTING FREE DINNERS AND DRINKS EVERY NIGHT....TELLING DAD HE WOULD PAY HIM BACK EVERY TIME DAD TALKED TO HIM ON THE PHONE.

I HATE THIS, I REALLY DO BECAUSE I (WE) MET SOME OF THE BEST PEOPLE YOU WOULD EVER WANT TO MEET THROUGH THE NATIONALS, AND THIS FORUM. Doug you know what my Dad tried to do to help everyone who had any part in the GS Nationals, and he would give the shirt off his back if someone asked for it. John - you called me twice trying to get me to stand up for you here...I know Johnno got the same call as well as Doug, but really guys....could you have done the same thing that he has and still sleep at night?

I am done here unless someone has a direct question, John I hope you come on here and no matter what you say - you just say something. I wish that the others that have called us, and private messaged us would put their stories on here...because behind every "Thanks to John Massoud" post I have found here....there is an untold story that follows it. Mass and the NE is tight living quarters, and the Buick community is a small group so word gets around. How many more machine shops are you not welcome in? How many more Engine builders wont help anymore because you haven't paid them? How many more people are driving cars with motors that God only knows what parts are really in them?

Ya, I'm pissed now, because I find out more daily - but please post your own story because more than pissed I am sad, and hurt - that someone I considered a friend wont stand up and answer, try to make it right - nothing, just try to get others to stand up for him...and after all my family has done for him just flat ass could not care less.

You know the old saying, if you have nothing good to say about someone don't say anything! Well all I can say is nothing after my dealings with John years back! I will leave it as that.

 

I remember Mr. Roys being one of the biggest contributors to Quick 16 for a number of years.....Dougs class. Havent seen them at the Nationals in a few years....conspicuously absent. I wonder if they still contribute to Quick 16? Conspicuously absent from the board here for a while too. I hope that isnt because of this in any way, but I'm afraid it might be related. I hope the Roys family will understand this is an isolated situation in the Buick community for the most part. By that I mean there are many more out there that are honest and straightforward and would bend over backward to help, than those who are dishonest and who are looking to take you for a buck or $20,000. I can understand though if the two are related.

I know if I was in their situation, I might want to distance myself from the entire group because of it as well.

Its just too bad it took this long to come out. Might have saved some folks a LOT of money and heartache.

So unless I get any input to the contrary, I would say it looks like the point has been made here.. and it's time for us to move on.

I have left it open for a while here to see if John would like to come on and explain or whatever, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

As readers, you have some valuable input from respected members like the original poster, the Roys, John C. and Doug, so use that to color any decisions you may have to make should you ever run across John and/or want to do business with him.

I personally don't know him, other than to say hi to at the track, so I have nothing positive or negative to add.

I will leave this open for another day, and barring any uproar to the contrary, will close it tomorrow.

I must have not been clear on some of the comments so I want to be ABSOLUTELY clear on the following and I will end my input.

1. No one, other than John was the focus of this post (from my part) and my hope was an answer, of any type from him - him alone.
2. We (the Roys family) are at fault in this as well for not speaking up sooner, but we did not have the "rest of the story" then, as well as the embarrassment of the events really make you feel stupid, and that spills over into other decisions - but that does not relinquish the fact that it should have been addressed at the time it happened, and for that we do apologize.
3. I thank those who had the conviction to bring this to light - without knowledge of what was happening, there would never have been the need for a change. Thanks to everyone who cared enough to come forward privately because we understand the pressure behind being public with this and respect their choices.

4. This is the most important thing of all.....we do not, and will not make an association between what happened with John, to any other person, group, forum or anything else. The 2 guilty parties in our case are John and us - for 2 different reasons. (hopefully addressed above #2)

We have nothing but the highest regard and respect for everyone we have met through this forum, Buick Events or anywhere else that relates to the Buick hobby/life, and I promise you that we would have never made the struggles we have been through without help from so many of you. Everyone here has an opinion and I hope that they will form their own based on the facts surrounding whatever they decide to do, with or without John Massoud - Our results are ours - nothing more.

We have been very blessed in our involvement in this choice of brand loyalty...however non-mainstream it is, that is what sets us all apart- and brings us all together. I hope that John can bring it all together and try and make good on the things that have gone wrong in his life because he has touched too many people to be all bad, as evidenced by the hits on this thread.

Jim and all the moderators: Thanks for listening and letting us have a voice, I know that Dad called this morning and would like to say something so this can be put to bed for him as well so I will let him know he needs to get it done today.

Hello to All who have read this thread,

I want to sincerely thank everyone for their open discussions (and opinions) on the subject of John Massoud. It is with great sadness that all of this had to be aired out within the Buick community but how else could we have protected others that may come into a business agreement with John. Doug has evidently been on the good side of dealings with John as I am sure others have been. Unfortunately the down side is there are too many that have been on the losing end in their dealings with John. I personally have nothing deterogatory to say about Doug because I have had nothing but great dealings with him and I respect everything he does for the Buick Community. I just couldn't stand by and let you beat Dave up for his post.

All in all I have finally been able to unload a burden that I have carried and hidden about my unscupulous dealings with John. Please do not think that this carries any bad feelings with anyone else in the Buick community because we love you guys and support everything you stand for. john the Lord gives us the ability to choose between right and wrong and my friend I am sure you know the difference. I stated facts with my involvement with you but at the same time I am not to judge you. John I want to say I sincerely forgive you for your actions against me and wish you well in your future dealings with those around.

I do want to sponsor the Bracket Racers this year for cash and prizes. If someone will call me we can get togetehr on this early.

Before this thread gets locked out I wanted to make a few more comments. As I stated in the first post I do not take lightly attacking anyones reputation but losing alot of money has a way of gnawing at you and changing your mind. If I go through the rest of life I will be happy if I never tick anyone off. My intention was to give an average guy a chance to make some money on the side. For those who said I did not pay enough the original price was for $3000-$3500 but it was not a hard tota.l It was understood I would take care of any head work. I had give John $2500. It turned out John paid the shop a small amount($500 maybe) which paid for the bore and that is about it. He supplied a few gaskets and had the block cleaned and the crank polished only. The rods were sized with used bolts by someone. He also assembled the timing cover. Assuming he paid the shop $500 and the other stuff $500 which is way high I still had to pay the machine shop $800. By my math I am out $2300 and have an unassebled engine and few parts. The funny thing is I offered John $500 extra to assemble the engine on several occassions on several phone calls. Who would not take $500 for a few hours work? The fact is it was not enough. He did not have the $800 to get my stuff out of jail. If he had been honest with me I could have paid for it and maybe got this thing done. I would not have done business with him again but this would not have happend here. I wanted to post good things about the build he did here but this is what we got instead. Final word. If I offended anyone here then so be it. Anyone who got taken here I am glad I finally got this thing out in the open. This is a great sight with great people and I fel have many friends here. Those of you who are ticked at me then maybe read the entire thread again. Thanks.
