Do not hammer the hub or tighten the nut any more....the hub is seated as far as it goes.

    >>Okay thanks. Out of curiousity - this is a repro hub - perhaps there is a slight difference with an original and the repro?

Measure the gap and I will measure one I have with an orig hub.

    Hi George,

I just took the measurements before - a quarter of an inch gap between the repro hub and the column. The repro hub itself seems to be just under an inch and a half in depth.

Anyone know how to get the hub to fit more closely? I have a huuuuge gap while trying to install a new wheel. Thanks in advance!

    3/16-1/4" is typical.

Make sure you have the lock plate cover on your column....it helps fill in the gap. If you can provide a pic, would be a big help.

Thanks for the reply George. I hear you are the guru on these. Lock plate cover is there and I scuffed and painted it today. I had to retreat and put the old wheel back on. Will try this again in a few weeks and provide a pic at that time. Appreciate your help!
