Need help reading spark plugs

    455, ngk ur-5 plugs , 12 degrees initial with 34 total timing, 74 jets. Engine has about 100 miles on it with several passes at wot. Too lean?

    I would take a couple degrees of timing out especially if running ethanol fuel.

    Unleaded fuel does not color plugs very well. That plug looks fine to me. The color line on the ground strap is on the curve. That indicates proper plug temperatures. Keep the plugs in for a full year and look at them. Mine come out light to golden brown or gray.

    Wide open throttle is at the bottom of the porcelain. But the first few threads have color which is good,, other than reading plugs if you have a a/f meter thats real world real time readings

    curious, what's the Gap set on the plugs ?

    UR-5 plugs come gapped at .039"

    looks like .035-.037 to me. (My MK1-Mod-0 has not been to PMEL since 1992)
