I think I know the member you are talking about. Do you want me to stop by his work. I know he built a new house this fall and maybe busy working on building a shop. He loves his converter. No offense but he is making alot more power than Yardley. He even has the 2 piece drive shaft 3.42 gears, big dominator, SP1 and iron heads.

Well, Ed isn't a liar, he did come by work and ask me about the converter thing. I have a 258mm converter that was around $960 a few years ago. It stalls around 4000 rpm and works great on the street. I have driven the car to Minneapolis many times with this converter (500 miles round-trip) and I have never had trans temp above 170*. My car has run a best e.t. of 11.66 at 116 mph at density altitude of 3200 ft. on 91 octane pump gas. I love the converter. I have bought several converters from Coan over the years, some for my car, some for other cars. I have delt with both Jason and Art. Both are great guys and they always help me out and I have never had an issue with their product. The reason they didn't sell you the 10" race converter is because the 258mm has much better torque multiplication than a regular 10" which really helps the heavy cars out. It is a very efficient converter also, only shows about 2% slippage after lock-up. cheap converters will show 6-8%. I have Coan converters in cars that run from high 13's to 8.80's and I have never had an issue. You do have to be honest with them about your combination and intended use. BTW, my car is full manual valve body so I don't really have any issues that way. Hope this answers some questions.

Yardley, Ed told me you had some trouble with pro-systems. I would really like to hear the story as I am looking at buying one of their carbs. PM me your phone# if you would, I would like to talk to you.

    Ken,
I believe he finally got the correct converter from Coan. His car went 12.99 at Cecil County last year so it worked.

Interesting thread with what seems like a happy ending!.. I just sent my Continental Jim Hand 10" 3200 stall back to continental to be loosened to 36-3800 Should put my 60'fts in the mid 1.6's come spring and High 11's!! It's going back in this saturday I will let you know how it feels on the street and highway . the 3200 cruising at 65 is at only 2800 rpms! hardly any slip!. Kris said it might slip maybe 150 rpms more on the top end is all!.. was going thru the traps at 51-5200 with the 3200 and 26" tires@ almost 111
