This is my 2nd skylark. Sold my first one back 2012 after searching for 8 years I finally found another one. My current car is a 1970 buick skylark 350 2 barrel. Im the 2nd owner. Has been stored in a barn since 1988 And has only 77,000 miles. It is really solid but needs a little body work and a repaint. I bought it in April from a small st louis dealership. I drove it back home 3 hours without any major issues. Within a few weeks I did some brake work, heater core, new shocks, front/rear sway bars, Hei, plugs, wires, air filter, USB charger under the dash, manual gauge pack under the dash. It runs great and doesn't drip a drop of oil but I'm pulling the motor soon to start my build. The parts will be here Tuesday. I ordered an sp3 intake, ta 284 88h cam, cam bearings, hooker super comp headers, edelbrock avs2 carb, thinner head gasets, water pump etc. I plan to leave the bottom end alone. Heads will get minor DIY porting. I will post a video showing before and after footage of it running along with a drive test. Stay tuned! Excellent. I had the exact same wheel/tire combo.....on one of my cars. It was ok....then a got sick of it and changed them out. Are you sticking with this combo or changing? Let`s see some more pics and progress
I had low pros on my blue 71. Always thought that I would stick with low Pros but I like the looks of the meaty 15s. What did you end up switching to?
Welcome - Great looking car. I like the wheels better on the new car. Seamist Green is a tough color for wheels to look good w/ but they look really nice. W/350's being plentiful & cheap and #'s matching not meaning anything, I'd recommend leaving the car complete/running and getting a different engine to build (just my 2¢ fwiw). 350's are great engines btw. Practically indestructible.
Thanks, I'm not sure that I'll stick with this paint color though. But The vinyl top is dark green and in perfect condition so i might repaint with a darker metallic green. I've considered building a different 350. I know where theres a 69 wildcat motor cheap.
My TA shipment came today!!! only thing not pictured here are the hooker super comp headers. Cant wait to get started!
It is a good idea to get the headers Jet Hot coated or similar. I had mine coated 25 years ago and held up pretty good. This also helps to lower underhood temp a bunch

I use the cherry picker weekly to load gutter coil into my seamless gutter machine. The hitch setup has always worked great.
Nice. Looks fairly clean....you are way ahead of the game. Remember, the painting is easy....it's all in the prep.....and how far are you going with it? You do not want to get that engine back in and say to your self....I should have done that .

I plan to remove some of the stuff from the firewall, wax and grease remover everything, Scotch-Brite the rust, and I plan to repaint with some black $10 spray paint that I bought from O'Reilly's. If this is a terrible idea let me know. Battery tray and radiator support will be getting a undercoat type finish.
