Hello everyone. I recently bought a running/driving 69 Buick Riviera GS with a 430 in her. I am new to Buicks, and classic cars in general. I am very excited to be here! The code on the Rochester is, "29241ME 1259", but is missing the "70" in the front. What does that mean? Decoding: Digit #1-2: Rochester Prefix (which is missing on the carb) Digit #3: the #2 indicates the decade, 1960's Digit #4: the #9 indicates the year of manufacture, 1969 Digit #5: the #2 indicates a Quadrajet 4-bbl Digit #6: the #4 indicates its for a Buick Digit #7: the #1 indicates this carb was for a manual, but the Riviera is an automatic I am a green-horn here so don't be too hard on me!
Welcome aboard! Cheers, A 69 Riv carb is 2924- the 1 is part of the ME - I think a space is missing, not really a mystery carb. "2924 _ 1ME 1259"
It is all a learning game for me. I love it! Any recommendations on a Qjet carb rebuild kit? I'd like to give it a shot.....I haven't thrown a tool out of anger in awhile!
Best source for the right stuff- Greg Gessler is a great Buick guy, this is his site: https://quadrajetparts.com/
