Just wanted to let everyone know that I just QC'd (quality controlled) two parts for Frank McIntyre. They are the hoses that go from the radiator to the overflow jug and from the overflow jug to the ground.

Both looked identical to the 2 original hoses I have on my 71 GSX, including the ribbing that runs down the length of them, and were the same ID & OD of my hoses.

I don't know what he plans to sell these for but they looked beautiful, and he said they would be available sometime in the February-March time slot.

Just thought you all should know.

Duane, outstanding. I gave Frank some originals to go by when I was at the Ohio meet this summer. I am glad he followed through on it. I was going to have to use some old ones. I hope I can get a good long piece to go below the core support. Originals are often short making antifreeze dump into the bottom of the core support even with the clip. I have several originals and they are all short.

I'll be in line once they are ready for sale.

    Dave,
Where can a fellow buy an original rad. clip?
Tried a repro & it was gone in a day.

Steve,, put a wanted add here. I scoured some junkyards and managed to come up with one but they are usually gone.

    Steve,
If you buy a repro and urethane the bugger to the radiator it will stay. Either that or solder it on. You can do the same thing to the tags.

So that's the trick! Ok have to ask. The two letter codes on the clips are those dates? Mark repo is AD, I've seen AD, BE, BG, AK, AE
I know, I know buy your book

    DL,
The "Big" 2 letter code stamped on the plate is the Application code for the entire assembly. The smaller letter codes and the number (on the tags) designate the side tank pieces and the rad core width (# cores), height, and length.

The rad date code is stamped as a raised letter on the rearward face of the passenger side tank.......................and you are right, the info to decode it is in my book.

The reason the repro tags/hose clips fall off is they were not made of spring steel like the originals, so the small loop that holds them on will sometimes open up. What I mentioned is an easy fix and the problems go away.

I was thinking I would order when your web site is back up and running. How's that for pressure ?

    DL,
That is no pressure and at this rate you will never buy a book, so if you want the info before I get really gray...............................................................................you may want to re-think that.

I always thought my overflow hose was correct on my wifes Suncoupe. It has a larger bell like end where it hangs down by the suspension. If these are correct for a 72 I'll get a couple sets

More than likely, that hose is the original that just got flipped around end-for-end to provide a tighter fit at the overflow bottle once the other end got loose. :Do No:

I also have a set of the repro hoses. As Duane stated these are excellent parts and look identical to the originals.

Anyone needing the correct olive green pinch clamps that were used on these you can get them in the nut and bolt drawer section of a Sears Hardware store if you have one near you. They are very cheap there and you do not have to pay the big bucks the repro guys like Year one get. There were just two used for these. One at the radiator overflow spout and one on the lower connector of the overflow tank. No clamp was use on the upper nozzle of the tank. These were the same clamps used on the 3/8" rubber fuel connections.

Frank, I sent those to you in a Priority mail package about two weeks ago. Did the Post Office lose them? That is not good.
