So to get the "brushed" look on the spokes, if its not paint or powder coat what is done to get the dull look on the spokes? Rechrome but not polished?
The only thing I do to the centers is paint the back side, clean the chrome, and paint the black pockets. The chrome on the spokes is as the factory made them. Some look brushed and some look like a sandblast texture. Some look like a mixture of both. The photo at the start of the thread shows the sandblast texture look. I have an 18 pc run in process and some show more of a brushed look. I'll post a photo when they return from sandblasting. Here are photo's of a 15x8 with 5" backspace. Prices are plus shipping.
Bought a set if these from Steve and could not be more pleased. If you are picky like me then you will be happy.
A freind of mine bought a set of steve`s wheels , I looked them over today , they are very nice , I will be ordering a set from him when I am ready for wheels ,Wally
There is currently a waiting list for the 1970 "WG" style wheels due to lack of cores available. Also since I am spending so much time to hunt these down and paying more for them, I am forced to raise the cost to $220 each. If you provide your own cores the cost will be $160 each. The cores MUST be from 1970 or older to make correct "WG" style wheels and the chrome must be good on the centers provided. Here are photo's of another option. Custom powder coated centers welded to new chrome rims. I can do these for the 1971 and newer style wheels or 15x8. Cost would be $180 each in solid color or $200 with the lug pockets painted black for 15x7. 15x8 are $20 more. These could be matched to your car if you provide color samples. Also in the works is a process to replicate the satin chrome finish on the centers to salvage any with rusty or pitted chrome. Will post photo's in a few days when the prototype is complete. Steve, Can you post a link to your website ? :idea2: Put it in your signature. Where are you ? I don't see a location in your signature. Are you attending BPG or the Nationals in case someone wanted to bring you some cores ? What have you found as far as the cheapest way to ship you cores ? Thanks
Again you would think the person that built the web page would put where this place is located and not just a phone number :spank: ---------- Post added at 01:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:27 PM ---------- FWIW : a quick google search of the phone number lead me to this steve@carusoperformance.com. Caruso Performance and Restoration. Clarkston, Michigan
Ryan, Yes I am in Clarkston,MI. I only list the phone number to encourage people to call and communicate what they are needing. I plan to be at Buick Raceday at Norwalk, OH in June and the GS Nationals in Oct. If I can get some good cores beforehand I hope to have finished wheels at each event, I will gladly purchase good cores at both events. If you wish to ship them the best way is box 2 rims together and use UPS or US Postal. Cost is the same either way. For example, I've sent 2 wheels to NY for $40 and 4 wheels to Dallas for $80 Thanks FYI they don't want links to websites in our signitures so I removed it from mine.
I got my 70 WG style wheels from Steve and they are beter than NOS. Will be proud to put them on the GSX.
Hi Steve Do you have any interest in a WG 14" rim. I have one that I don't need. Do you use 14" rims ??? Do you want it ??? I'll take a fair offer if you want it, I can post some photo's if you want to see it. David
David, There is no such thing as a 14" WG wheel. If you have a 1970 or older 14" wheel and the chrome on the spokes and ring are very nice then yes I would like it. I do not care about the condition of the rimshell as they get trashed. Please send photo's in a PM. Thanks
