Hey Steve, I am ready to order two 15 x8 with 5.25" back space. Pm me for what ever you need! Thanks Craig
With the measurements I have done on my 69 I have plenty of room towards the frame and Not much room at all to the factory lip on the wheel well. Everybody that has wider rims on there 68-69s all have 5-5.5" back spacing. With my aftermarket rear disc brakes it also pushes the rims out an extra 1/8 inch from stock so I should be plenty safe with the 5.25" backspace. Looking forward to getting them! I will keep everyone posted. Cheers!
Hello Steve What do you have that would fit a 1968 Wildcat which has drum brakes front and rear and currently have a standard set of rims with 225/60 R15 tires on it. I fancy a set of rallye rims with the large wildcat centres, which would fit easily under the rear fender skirt which the 2 door sports coupe has. I am not sure what width rim fits here? I live in Sioux Falls South Dakota. Thank you Regards John
John, Because of the way the big car wheels are made there is nothing I can do to restore them. They would have to be taken to a chrome shop to be refinished and to do it properly is in the $400-$500 range. Steve
Got my rims! They look excellent. If you have disc brakes though you may run into problems as I did. The drop section of the rim will contact just about every low profile disc brake out there. I have "torino" discs that came on factory fords with 15"rims(9" ford bearings for bolt in axles on my 12 bolt!), my remedy has been to grind down the caliper to clear the rims drop section. If you are running drums you will be fine and extremely happy with your rims. Cheers Steve, Nicely done!
Are you still planning on the 295 MT's ? Im curious how they are going to fit. Did you cut the wheelwell at all ? does it have that factory bump outright in the center ?
Steve, do you mark the wheels you make? I have 15x8's on mine, bought a couple off ebay and a couple here on the board, they were all new. Tires are mounted now, but was wondering if there was a way to identify them.
Steve are you going to Norwalk? I have a bunch of WG's and also want you to look at those motor wheel spyders for me. Thanks Herb
Update. I wish I would have bought the 295s! I have 5/8" of clearance to the untrimmed wheel well lip and about an inch of clearance to the frame. For anyone who is putting some meat on the rear of their 68 or 69, 5 1/4" back spacing is what you need.
Steve, Im coming to Norwalk to pick up a couple of 15x8s you are making for me. do you want these for cores? I was going to sell them they are 14 inch 5x4.75
Bob, I should have your wheels ready and at Norwalk. If you can bring those wheels I'll look at them there. Thanks Steve
