Nice, glad to see the hood open and good looking stuff inside. Maybe a fuse on the power seat?

    Contrats on getting the Riv!

Glad that you were able to get to a price that you were happy with. Looks great in the pictures!

Since the power seat isn't working, are the turn signals out too? On my GS400, they were on the same circuit that kept popping the fuse.

Interesting... the car must have been repainted at some point as it seems to be a very light green to me. The previous owner said the vinyl top was also green, but he didn't like it so had it dyed black.

Since the cowl tag is fastened with phillips head screws, there is also a possibility it's not the original tag for that car.

Seems more like the Seamist. Is the under hood green paint stock?

I'll be totally honest with you...... I would never buy a car with the tab held in with screws..

Even a used dash board ( the ones with Serial numbers ) can put you in the grey bar....

Thank you again for all of your very helpful inputs. To answer your questions and pose some of my own:
    • Ref the power seat - When I press the switch for fwd or back I do not hear any sounds. But when I press it up or down, I hear a click from the seat. The power windows work, so based on the fuse block diagram the fuse must be good, correct?
    • The hood does open, but initially not very easily. My body shop friend pointed out the rubber pads on the hood stops are missing and causes this problem. He also lubed the catch mechanism and it popped open more easily. I've seen the rubber pads sold separately and the whole kits. Are the hood stops interchangeable with other GM cars in this era or must it be a "72 Riv" part?
    • I will modify the driver's side hood hinge per Nailhead in a 1967's guidance... thank you!
    • Are the 72 Dash Pads available through repro sources or will I have to go the used parts route?
    • The interior vinyl is good except for the passenger seat seam split. I'll see if an upholstery shop can stitch it up... wonder if I should replace the front seat foam while it's in the shop?
    • Driver's outside mirror is loose. I need to get the inside door panel off to tighten it up, which will change the weird angle.
    • I need reference material and have seen the various shop manuals for sale on line and even a CD containing manuals. What is your opinion on the best route to go for reference material.
    • What are your views on a posi-traction rear end? This engine has a lot of power, which too easily spins the peg-leg tire. One friend suggest I install a Lock Right Locker unit in the rear end. Others say I should try to find a stock GM BOP posi rear end... thoughts?
I can see I will spend many hours in my heated shop repairing/tinkering away, which I'll enjoy. Thanks again.

I wonder if the aftermarket HEI ignition works with the Max Trac?

I am going to guess the Max Trac isn't ever going to work. A miniature computer? in 1972? I don't think so. I think ignoring that is your best bet. Of course, I would have to fix it, but I am crazy that way. Based on the thumbnail description it does sound like the ignition is controlled by the Max Trac also, so a distributer swap probably would be the end of it?

Well I guess the brochure says it, so it must be true.

There was no commercially available microprocessor available that time. Intel had the 4004, which was kind of joke, and NOT suitable for automotive applications.

I am sure there is a transistorized circuit that takes the inputs.

Ok, that's fair. To me a computer is a digital device. you can call your slide rule or degree wheel an analog computer if you want.

Excellent observation, Max Damage! I've ordered a Sloan VIN research to see what their records indicate.

What would their records indicate? Your going to send them the numbers to the tag & title, to a car you bought from a tweeter in a parking lot..

My advice post a request on this forum asking about vin tags with screws.. locations of factory stamped tuners on frame.. Take to a body shop and see I they can find any evidence of the (14) paint code ( color that matches the tag ).

I'm just following Nailhead's suggestion and I appreciate your inputs too. Regarding the paint, when body shops repaint a car, do they remove the interiors and paint the inside as well? If I pull up the carpet, I should be able to find evidence of the original paint, correct?

Unless they totally strip the car down to bare metal.....I mean bare metal,,,, hinges are good place to look.. FWIW Ive seen factory overspray on the frame of a few cars.... ( Thanks to this site ). I always thought painted bodies went on the the frame on assembly line...

FWIW a body shop does not mask off the engine that well....
