    Hey Guys,
I'm new to v8buick and hope to get to know a few of you fellow Buick nuts and share some tips, tears and hopefully joy!!

I have two 1956 Buick Specials, one is almost on the road, it's a 2 door HT, red over white. I'll post some pics when I get a chance. The other is a long term project, and I mean long term. It is a 2 door sedan (post) and will require a complete rebuild. Unfortunately I am using parts of it to get the HT going!!

1956 Buicks, well most Buicks were never sold in Australia new but there is a growing army of us flying the flag "Down Under!"

Anyway, thought I'd say hi and hope to hear from some of you soon.

    Cheers,
    Paul

The 1956 2 drs Special sedan is rarer compared to the 2 drs Special (Riviera) hardtop:
38672 2 drs sedans vs. 113861 2 drs hardtops were built.

Show us a few photos of your Buicks :TU:

    Hey Erik,
Thanks for the reply! Yes I have been told that, which is why I decided to hold onto it and not sell it when the HT arrived a few months ago.:) I will post some pics when I get to work as they are all on my work PC. It's nearly 1am here!
    Cheers,
    Paul

    Hey Devon,
Thanks mate. Yeah we just had our last day of summer here, bummer! MI is Michigan or Minnesota?? Sorry mate, I know most of your State codes but you guys have so many, we only have like 6 to remember!!
I'm hoping to get Stateside again sometime this year with the family. I love the US and reckon you guys will bounce back before you know it.
    Cheers,
    Paul

    No worries, Michigan it is!

I enjoyed time in Melbourne late in '07 to support Holden's Camaro prototypes at Lang Lang. Turned the rest of the stay into a late honeymoon. Great place, great folks, great times.

    Hi Devon,

That's good to know. Lang Lang hey, I live about an hour to an hour and a half away from it. Haven't had the good fortune to drive on it. The Camaro underpinnings were based on our VE Commodore as you may already know and there were rumblings that we were going to get a RHD version here but the GFC wrecked that for us!! I was hoping to buy one as my daily driver. A boutique company sells them here after they have been converted to RHD and complied for about $140K!!! A bit rich for my liking. You can get a serious Bahn storming German for that dough!! Out of curiosity what do they range pricewise in your neck of the woods?? Probably around $40-50K.

Well here are a few pics of my babies!! I hope you guys like them.

    Cheers,
    Paul

Paul,,, glad you are here,,, this is the best Buick site going,,,, I hang around Da Nailhead section a lot... my first Buick experience was a 56 super that my folks bought when I was 14.... tried to run that thing into the ground and could not do it.... it just kept on lasting.... never did tear up,,, kept it over 10 years... finally they traded it off.... it was a 56 super coupe... that ran strong.... see you later,,,,Doc

Hey Doc, cheers mate. I have checked out Da Nailhead and think I'll be asking for some help sooner rather than later as I am trying to get the HT on the road. I need to change the pwr steering pitman arm seal (which I have) and a few other bits and pieces that need doing...I hope to be cruising soon!

Hey Randy, thanks mate...I've got relatives in Montreal and am hoping to get up there soon enough, I hear Canada is awesome!! You Canadian's are lucky to be so close to the USA, it costs us a fortune to bring our cars over. On average $4K just in shipping then all the other fees and charges, on average it costs us $4-8K...but when you see your new baby in the garage, only the birth of your kids can top that!!! Sweet Electra by the way!

Hi Pete, nothing like a good topless beach!! My mates and I ride (cycle) near St Kilda beach in Melbourne on warm days and the girls are always letting their chest puppies get some sun!! But, we do it for the exercise, at least that's what we tell our wives...

I imagine the chest puppies I saw almost 30 years ago are probably waist puppies now. Man I remember trying to drive over there. we bought a holden for 500. After the first day of driving I never drove again. My mates wouldn't let me. I was fine on the open road but at an intersection I was so messed up. Drove the bag off that car we did and sold it for the same we paid. Is fosters still the beer of choice. Pete

Thanks Paul, I'm only 3 hours from Montreal, if you ever get to Montreal, please give me a shout (rccdriver@yahoo.ca) if you have time, and of course if you need any directions, or info on this area of Canada by all means. You have inherited a great ride, and Bulldog has given you some awesome pics to cheer you up. My 68 Electra is a daily driver, will be making it more show quality as time goes on...thanks for the compliment...:beers2:

    Hi Pete,

That same Holden is probably worth $20K now!! It's amazing how much prices have gone up in all counties as far as classic cars are concerned. I have driven in Europe and only messed up at intersections a couple of times, luckily no one was coming the other way...and Fosters is what we sell overseas!! We keep the good stuff for ourselves!!!!:beer
