Hi Brian, I would swap my tires for yours any day of the week. If you want at Palooza or the Ice breaker next week we can swap and I will do the same with your tires. The Road Runner Hooks. It hooked when Mike (He was called Mr 60ft in many of the write ups I've seen) had it and I took it to the next level. We have it figured out. I can't say much more than that.

Brian at every race my car is looked over witha fine tooth comb. The last race VMP they went as far as checking my Spark plug wires and pinching me for having writing on the back side that could not be seen on them. Our tech guys don't let anything by.

Dave what was the lowest you ever ran your tires. And don't forget not all cars respond to low tire presure. My Black Hemi Road Runner at 12 psi doesn't hook as well as 28 psi. So go and figure your ride out. At VMP Jim Mino had his best 60ft and E/T ever at ?? psi. He had been running 40 psi prior to our conversation I told him to go down to 16psi that didn't work but he did find a pressure that made his car hook.

Hey Ralph, are those the same tires that were on the car when you bought it from Mike? If so, then I bet I know why they look like used prophylactics.

Casey what do you mean? I have always treated everyone who has attended any race I have put on with the most respect and care. I will pay for all of anyones expenses if they feel in anyway mistreated or slighted at any of my events guaranteed. Please do not include what happened at E-Town in the past in the same sentence as a race that I've worked hard to promote and organize. I will not take that from anyone.

Hey Steve, no those tires are on my SuperBird now. Their was not very much tread on them when I got the car and the front tires didn't match the back ones. (one set had the tire size and the others didn't) I had to split them up the front went on the Hemicuda and the back went onto the SuperBird many years ago. Dave told me those used to be his old tires.

    Ralph:

I've never run under 22 psi on the car, usually run 30 on the street. Have had no luck going down in pressure, and runs on the outer ridges with anything under 35 in them. Seems to like 42-44 the best for a good flat even pattern. Maybe it makes a difference in not shocking the tires, but I have no choice with a 4 speed small block with a big cam and no low end torque......even with the 4.56 in it.

I don't think anyone's questioning your car, just the sidewalls of the tires. Do you have any evidence of the tire spinning in the rim like Lane's car?

Still hope to make Beaver again this year. Will have to install a line lok first, though. Murdoch, work on your pushups and give me a little extra push this year!.

Dave and Casey with all due respect, either of you have a car that goes 1.75 or better in the 60 ft on polys over the last 23 or 40 years?

Ralph isn't the only one doing it.That photo speaks for itself. To suggest that 35 racers and their crew wouldn't notice a bogus tire or say they saw a bogus tire is slap in the face and is insulting.

And Casey to lump all the east coast events together with Gonzo is bull$hit too.The Canadians know how I feel about what happened and that is all that matters to me.Don't let Gonzo be your excuse not to come to the east coast for any of our other events.Say you don't like us or you just don't want to but don't slam the east coast for something we had no control over.

1.82 has been my best on Polyglas tires .... so, NO, I've not done a 1.75.

You are correct Tom. My apologies.

No, my car does not run with the big boys, and the best 60 footers I've had with it are 1.90's, usually around 2.00's. I launch at 4500-5000 at Norwalk and 3500-4000 at other tracks if there's any bite. Lots of clutch sliding, different world without a torque convertor.

But I have been racing on Polyglas in that car on and off since I bought it in 1968. Never on the track until 1999, though. We did try my M/T Sportsman Pros, M/T slicks, and BFG drag radials with low pressures. Never did figure out the Drag Radials, but the M/T's really liked the low pressures. Saw no gain with any of them.

I plan to come out to Beaver again in July, maybe we can drop the pressures down to under 20, take some videos of the tires and the burnout patterns there. It usually takes close to 40 psi to get a good pattern on the pavement.
Guarantee there won't be any sidewall flex with my car.

Last thing in the world I would ever want with my car is to hook hard, due to the small block lack of torque below 3000. Can usually slide the clutch to keep the R's up until the 60 foot mark or so to avoid the huge bog. It actually killed the engine in the first round at Stanton last Fall when it hooked too hard.

I'm from Philadelphia, and have no problem running with you East Coast guys, but won't be much more of that with fuel prices.

Its interesting to note that the same technique that works well for one person and their car, does not work well for someone else. I don't think there is a "right way" to air the Polyglass tires, or even launch the car. Everyone needs to figure out what works for them.

Ralph has definitly got that car working! And I for one have inspected that car closer then anyone else being that it is the FASTEST six barrel ever (officially) and very close in compairison to my car. But my car likes 35-42 lbs. like most other cars and it also 60's in the 1.7's. And as far as anyone not being happy at an event that Ralph put together I don't get it? See you East Coast guy's at Cecil! Especially you Ralph.

We are Playing with Scotts F-85 350 Olds 4 spd car and have not yet found a proper tire presure. With time I am confident he will be in the 1.80 hi 1.7 60ft. I would talk to Tom Cannon about clutch ideas I am sure he can help you.

PS Murdock loved being your line lock so no need to install one.

Have fun. We did for quite a few years. I'm thinking seriously of pulling off all the traction crap, put the 3.91 back in it and retire it. That was the plan if this this 66 had worked out, but it didn't. Getting way too rich for my budget these days.

It's kinda like playing golf or bowling when you get old......and you were almost good at it when you were younger.........No fun going backwards.

I still play at golf once or twice a year for the social aspects of riding around some beautiful scenery in the open air in February (Alabama)..... in a short sleeve shirt drinking a beer (or two) and not worrying about getting a DUI or arrested for relieving yourself in public.....
