I agree with your thinking, Dave, that smoking should be up to the individual business owners. But I've gotta admit I'm leaning the other way after my vacation in New York City last fall. It was so fantastic to never have to deal with smoke in any indoor public establishment. Great meal? Hot jazz band? No smoke!

    Whenever there's talk of a smoking ban, the restaurant/bar owners whine about how they will lose business. You would think that they would at some point figure out that less than 10% of the population -- and thus, potential customers -- smoke now-a-days. How much business are they already losing because people don't want to deal with the fumes? While I'm anti-government, maybe sometimes their role should be to give certain segments of society a kick in the pants. :Do No:

    I have to kick in my .02 . The NATs were at National Trail a while back and in the hurry to get the car ready I forgot to install the new stickers on the plates and the car was inspected and evrything was in ordere but the stickers with the year was on the fridge at home . We were blissfully traveling the 40 miles to the track on show day and were pulled over by the State Patrol . The guy was nice enough but even though he checked and found out the paperwork was done I was given a ticket that had to be paid in person in like 3 days . well 200.00 of lawyer fees later I do not think I have a warrant in Ohio but I wont be testing that one out . Oh yes and my wife refuses to let me throw those 99 stickers out yet they are still on the fridge . Sorry for those that live there but you can have it man !

    Staties -enforce all the laws

    Dont write off the entire state cause of some officius ass****.
    My common lament to all that would listen is . If you are going to enforce traffic laws , enforce them all , tailgating , failure to yield the outside lane , lack of indicator usage . My favorite story regarding enforcement of traffic laws is as follows;
About 23 years ago I spent a college summer in Germany. Buddy of mine had a VW Golf. We were rolling down the autobahn , around 105 , all it could do. Anyway this porsche moved up on us , flashed the brights , my bud didnt seem them . He flashed them a few times more ( once again lack of attention ( too many dinkel acker pils last night) . Next he flashed the other lights ( the reds and blues). We pull over , behind us is a 911 in the most hideous shade of green . My friend received a ticket for failure to yield to faster traffic, about $125 if I remember right.
Now if only the cops on this side of the pond could be as precise.

Speed doesnt kill :3gears: , stupidity does !! :beer:3gears:
    OK :rant: over

    I'm still waiting for a good rain to wash the salt off these Michigan roads so I can take my Buicks out of the barn.

    I assume you're thrashing to make the trip to Commerce? Going for the FAST race and the NSCA race?

    We're definitely out on both. Evrything's coming along fine, but just out of time. Now need to have the carb sent out for rebuild, throttle shafts are sloppy. You'd think they could make a carb that would last more than 37 years without needing service. :laugh: :laugh:

    Eric:

    What do you expect? After all you do live in a town named "Saline". I think a few Pure Stock Bozos also grew up there. Whole lot of wierd about 10 miles North of you. Stay away from that. Spent an eternity there in the 60's.

    You're right about the rain. We haven't had any rain yet this year. Lots of snow up until a month ago, but nothing since. Who ever heard of watering your lawn in April in Michigan?

    Dave, I'm not going to make it for the FAST race, the NSCA is the following weekend. I am going to Atlanta but the car is not. It won't be ready until early May. Our club rented Milan dragway on the 14th of May so that will be my target date.

    Milan? May 14? Private rental? :Brow: :Brow: That's about when my carb should be back and right before I load up for Musclepalooza in NY. What kind of club is this? Secret handshakes and all that?

    I smoke. I don't mind going outside the restaraunt to the lobby, but going down to the outside to smoke on the sidewalk is a pain in the butt. My .02
