How do you mean? V6 and 350 covers are the same except most V6 pump covers are metric. Are you talking about the crank mounted oil pump on the 3800 series V6's?
yes I still need to modify the cover a bit but it will enter where the oil pressure sensor would be and routed directly into the block. This setup allows for fully adjustable oil pressure, no load on the distributor gear. And not having a tiny oil pump sucking through a long straw.
Thats where I initially thought would be the most practical place, but thinking about it more, the pressurized oil would shoot straight across the #1 cam bearing first, hemorrhage out the #1 cam journal then on to the drivers side lifters, then passengers side then to the mains. After thinking about it more, going in the pass side REAR lifter galley would be the closest thing to priority main oiling
good point, I will have to look into this a bit more when I get closer. I’m still waiting on the slider plate for the head porting. Covid has screwed up supply in a million ways. Once my SUV is back together I will put the Skylark on the lift and start fabrication of the engine plate, it’s ripping at the engine mounts so it’s time for a front and mid plate. The mid plate is easy, SRE sent me one. But the front plate is tricky since the turbos are in the way on the passenger side. But I’m learning to weld, lots of tiny things needed but it will be worth it.
Sean we use an external oil pump on our engines. Easy to make a new bottom plate for the oil pump. -10AN feed to engine at stock oil pump location from external new pump.
Isn't that the truth! Even down to Chlorine tablets for the pool, havent been able to get any all summer
i can't run an external pump because it is a 1968 skinny-ass chassis. the new ones are built a mile wide. the crank mounted pump on the 3800 series is what i was talking about. probably less hassles if we all went nailhead.
After running the x-way to Dream Cruise & back a bunch of days, (abt 72 mile round trip), with fresh oil & filter netted 60 lbs @ 2,8k. That was @ 75 mph, locked convertor with 410 gear. Temp stayed at 185* so all engine vitals were just right.
