    :Do No: HI gang!
Saw an article this past summer in Cars and Parts about a yard near Hayward, WI that has old stuff in it. Now that I have the time to run up there, I can't find the magazine or any useful info on the web! Anyone have any details about the place?
    Thanks, Tim McCluskey :Comp:

    Hi Guys!
Do you know the location or name or phone number of the yard that I'm talking about? I haven't received any info on this at all, but the article was in a summer issue of Cars and Parts. If anyone else subscibes, could you check the summer 2004 issues for the info? Thanks, Tim

The yard near Hayward is Simon's Auto Salvage. The guys name is Gary and he is a great guy. The yard is on the right side of the road before you get to Hayward from the south. Phone number is 715-634-4594. There a lot of Buicks in there from 39 to 70's, mostly 40's and early 50's. Pretty tough stuff, but his prices are very reasonable. Gary also says he may crush 'em sometime soon, he is running out of room. If you know any Studebaker guys, bring them along, they will pass out.

Thanks for the info! I would like to score some mechanical parts for a 401 and dynaflow. Don't know anyone who is into Studebakers, but some guys appreciate old cars regardless of who built them. I kind of fit that description, although I am partial to GM! Thanks again for the information, I really appreciate it! Tim McCluskey

if you are willing to travel
Calvin Ives has a yard 8 miles west on Niellsville WI on US10 off cty B
old school yard where everything is cheap- a couple thousand cars

there is a huge yard in Camp Douglas WI- its insane on how big and complete the acres of acres of cars are. he is pricey though. I would wager there is over a couple hundred full size, 60's and 70's fullsize Buicks- It took me over 5 hours to walk that yard and not pull any parts

and if there are anyone near Adams WI, I have access to a rather decent size and private yard. not too much Buick stuff, but it is ol' school

    Hey,

When do you want to go over to the Adams yard? I'm south of Baraboo and am always looking for these old yards. I'd agree with you on the Camp Douglas Yard, Carl can be pricey. There is also another yard at Fountian City, Elmer's. He also has an Auto Museum, has a 300 mile Superbird or Daytona. Leno has been on him to sell. Was in there around 1990, still had several 66-67 SS396's and atleast one GTO Judge (bad front wreck). Think he has cleaned out alot of older stuff by now. Knows what the "vintage" stuff is worth.

    Hi Guys,
Here is some info that I found out about Simons, he did crush some struff but claims to have some 60's Buick stuff left, but where it is located can't be reached until spring. Elmers has stuff, but won't let anyone walk the yard, tell them what you want and they'll let you know if they have it and how much. There are still tons of cars there and you can see them as you drive in, you just can't touch them!
We had an ice storm here over New Years and many yards won't let you out until the stuff melts, really dangerous to be out there wandering around bent metal and broken glass that is ice covered! After we were walking around an ice covered yard near the Iowa border for two hours of slippery fun, I told Dan Lapham and Ed Gunyo that Edmund Hillary was a wimp!! LOL!!
If anyone has a phone number for the Camp Douglas yard, that would be great! With all of this Wisconsin response, I may have to spend a week over there this spring and another this summer. Thanks, Tim McCluskey
P.S. Don't beat up on the Vikings too bad this Sunday, and remember that Randy Baby has a curfew!!! lol!!

FWIW guys-Ed Gunyo and I visited Ives a year or so ago and found about nothing for our 60s E and B Buicks. And as Tim said, the yards are very icy in southern Minnesota these days-

    Hey,

I was at Steward's last fall. Not too much Buick Stuff. Lot's of Chevy's & Ford's. They had a Triumph TR3 (rough) couple Vega's, A V-8 Monza (complete) a few big Buick's and a Skylark or two. Seems to be 3-5 acres of the older cars, lot's of late model (78 & newer) with a real emphisis on the 90's models.

Yeah the other one near Sewards called Newville Auto Salvage, might be a few things there, plenty of old tin but not a lot of really good stuff. Seward may still have a nailhead intake, he had one a long time ago. Another one I'm thinking of was near Dayton, WI I forget its name but there was a lot of stuff out there! Gotta find it again and report back

    Patrick
P.S. did any of you guys that went to Sewards deal with Hank the Crank

I kinda figured alot of yards would of crushed out most of the old stuff with the $$$$$ of scrap iron and steel high during last summer.

well as for the that Adams yard, I talked to my friend, Tim Kearney, whose family it is and said it was ok to post the phone number :608 339 2272
the guy lives down there is Mike Kearney and takes care of it.
I know his brother, Tim, I used to work with at the local Goodyear Dealer in Stevens Point.
Mike is sometimes hard to get ahold of. So you may have to call a couple times.
Oh yeah my name is Steve Abbott.
    i you have any questions , my number is 715 252 9257
    I hope that helps

PS the yard in Camp Douglas is C L Chase- check anywho.com to get the number
