It did have a steel crank. All 330 and 425 Olds ngines from 64-67 had forged steel cranks. A few of the early 68 455's had forged 455 cranks but went away in Dec, 1967 when they went to all Nodular iron cranks and closed down the Olds Forging plant.

One of my first Supervisors at Olds was a cheap bastard and bought a wrecked 1957 Olds just to get the title so he could qualify to get a free company car (including gas and everything, and you could order it, too.) He didn't own any other Oldsmobiles...The 57 had a good set of wide white snow tires on it, so he decided to put them on the back of his beautiful willow green 68 Delta 2 dr HT. Two problems:

    1. The 68 had 14 inch wheels and the 57 had 15 inch wheels so he couldn't put on the wheel covers and he was too cheap to get a coupla 15 inch hubcaps.
2.....and the other thing was, the 57 was Pink, as were the wheels....

We were embarassed to be seen in it, and was our primary "pool car" for local use. So a few us decided to fry those tires off it so he'd put the right ones back on it. Only took a week.  A big 455 and a posi took care of them very quickly.

Many years ago while still living in the Wash DC area; a kid driving a 1965 Starfire laid a big patch despite the motor having a slight miss and smoking like the dickens out of one of the exhaust pipes.
