Mike Nussell found the lost car of his friend from many years ago and finally is getting a new home. A true barn find, finds a good home with Mike. I guess I have my work cut out! Enjoy the pictures, it was fun going out seeing a true X, a rare site to see.

Unbelievable! Just how does one get so lucky to find a long lost car, and a GSX to boot? Had to be some serious detective work. Great find, congrats to Mike.

At the GS Nats 2 weeks ago , 2 70 yellow X 's showed up in similar condition
and those 2 plus this white X proves they are still out there !!!
Keep us posted on the progress .

I saw it when the guy posted it on Facebook back in April stating that he needed to sell it. I sent a message and never got a response. I'm sure he was flooded with messages and I'm glad to see that it fell into good hands. The old timeslips and GSCA/GS Nats paperwork from the mid-80s was super cool. It's great that it is finally being saved. Please keep up posted, this is the stuff we all love to see.

that's the car, Mike been chasing it down, finally touching base with this guy and finally got it. Just minutes away from Mike's hometown. But, I will let Mike tell the story all the way back when Richard Lassater found it in the 80's. I'm just glad it got a good home either with Mike or myself.

Nice! I got to hear a little of the story from @Mike Nussell (nice to finally meet!) @ the Nationals. Mike actually sent me pics (I still have) of a GSX he was selling (not this one) back in the mid '80's.

As best as I can remember: Richard L. bought this car in Jacksonville with a maco paint job and no stripes in the early 80's. It went to John Chamberlain and Bill VanMetre. After the first muscle car race that Chuck Green did in Ohio my friend Quintin and I were staying at John Chamberlain's house. This car was there for repairs. Quintin worked out a deal and we went up and he bought it shortly after. After a couple of ,he was driving it and was hit in the left front fender. He decided to sell it and I had too many cars so I didn't buy it. I towed the car to barn @30 minutes away. A couple of years ago the owner died. Thomas has had the car and knows I know the car. I'm picking it up on Saturday. Quintin was my best friend and ended up being my brother in law. He has a Son,my nephew, that a clone to him. Several of the parts on/in the engine came from me when it got fresher up. I tried to find the guy that bought it from Quintin @23 years ago, even talking to his father but never heard back from him. I guess it's coming full circle.

Wow great find/story, is it a Stage 1 car or non Stage ?

It's got a stage 1 engine in it. I believe it's factory. I'm going to get documentation for it after I get it home. It does have factory stage 2 pistons, aluminum intake, Holley carb and headers. Motor was gone through before it was wrecked. It's got to come apart again.

Very cool. Well that explains the stack of mid-12 second time slips in the FB photos. Keep us posted, this is a great story with a happy ending for the car.
