    Would this car have the first year turbo 400? The shift quadrant only shows drive and low, I think I remember reading somewhere you couldn’t hold second gear in the quadrant that first year?

    Yes, it's the first year of the Turbo 400 (Super Turbine). It only has "D" and "L" in the shift indicator but does have 3 speeds. Above 20 mph and you drop to "L", you will get 2nd gear. Just leave it there and coast down below 20 mph and it will drop to 1st gear. Now, for a 16 year old male looking to race something, you start in "L" and, when it won't go any faster, bang to "D" and back to "L" and it will bark the posi rear end in said '64 Electra most often causing the other drive to lift and lose the race.
