I am in the process of restoring the interior on my 1971 Skylark Convertible. Currently the car has no top or back seat and I have the option to choose a black or white convertible top and seats. The car is Dark Midnight Blue Metallic. Here's a picture - what do you think, black top & seats or white?
Hi neighbor, I vote to return it to its original color whatever that color is. I need to do mine. black in my hardtop GS,
Do yourself a favor if you like to keep the top down and put in a white interior. My interior is white and I can hop right in even on a hot day and the seats are not uncomfortable. I was talking to a guy recently with a convertible Chevelle with a black interior and he said that he cooks on a hot day.
Plus, looking at the midnight blue metallic exterior on your car - I think it would make a nice contrast to have a white interior and top.
I vote white too... Believe me I know from experience that you can really cook in a vert with black seats. I plan to redo mine one of these days leaving black carpet and dash, but white seats and panels.
White would look awesome on that car. I would never do white, but I live where you have to cross unpaved area's to get to your car all the time, and I have a 5 year old cruising partner!
This car has a different hue of blue with the white interior and top,it is killer, very classy IMHO. The contrast will be more pronounced with your color, but I still think that is the way to go.Good luck with it either way.
That is 100% voting for white - AMAZING that so many people are of the same opinion! Looks like we are going white..... :beer
I think it would look good either way, but probably better in white because it's a convert. If it was a hard top, I would definitely say black! U could always try to park in the shade with the top down! Seriously, the seats can get so hot that they can almost burn you!
I'd suggest a white interior and a black roof. I had a white roof for a while and keeping it clean was a real pain. Black is much easier to deal with. You could get a white boot cover so it's all white with the roof down. John
I say white interior/top as well. Contrast is good. Be careful when ordering, some years were more of a creamy white (like my 72) but I think 71 was more of a bright white...I'd confirm that before ordering.
I'd go black I don't have a vert but looking at the pic you have there a black top done right would be perfect. as far as the seats being hot its nothing a small towel wo'nt fix. Good luck and your ride looks great!
White is might! White top & interior!!! White vinyl is easy to keep perfectly clean with Spray 9! http://www.spraynine.com/ Plus you wont get H1N1...lmao:TU:
White, I have a 65 GS Convert. red with a black interior and I never put the top down, too darn hot:af: even when your moving!
