Doug Paine, my PAINLESS friend -- we go back to 2003 or so when you mistakenly bought a '69 speedometer with the speed alert alarm on eBay. Since I was one of the bidders, you contacted me and I bailed you out since I needed the part of course.

Now, with your vast selection of parts, can you help me -- I have a '72 455 in my '69 formerly 350 -- I need whatever it takes in the way of power steering brackets, what do you have -- thanks!

Dennis long time no hear. you should be able to use the 72 455 brackets if you have them. i believe in 71 & 72 you can use 350 or 455 brackets i will have to check and see what i have.

    Thank you, Mr. Paine,

There are a lot of differences and therefore a lot of confusion among the various years of small-block Buick and big-block Buick accessory brackets and pulleys; as you know, these also had differences among different body styles, such as Riviera, LeSabre, Skylark, Electra 225, Centurion, etc.

Power steering, alternator, air conditioner brackets also changed over time, so it is important to have the right parts to get everything to align properly.

With this one 1969 project I'm building now, it was a 350 with automatic and now is a 1972 455 with a Muncie four-speed.

I bought the engine as a stand-alone item from jeremy over in Michigan. He unfortunately had lost his job and had to sell stuff. So, all I got was the engine, fresh from its rebuild at the local engine rebuilding machine shop, with no brackets or anything.

As I get through this, then finish the other two cars, I will be able to create a comprehensive chart of engines, years, accessories, brackets, and pulleys so that we all can know authoritatively what goes with what.

Today, of course, is more or less the start of the concept and I am just trying to get something that will work.

Plus, there is the option that all true hot rodders enjoy, fabricating our own pieces to make it work and look slick all at the same time.

Thanks again for your willingness to see what you have -- please let me know -- oh, and I will also stay in more frequent contact with you, my friend!

    Take care, Doug.
