FYI, The original rag joints up to and including the 71 model year, had a looped wire in the center to make the ground connection. In 72 they went with a steel mesh inside the rubber piece, like what you would see in a steel belted tire if you cut it open. That mesh created the ground connection. This one looks like a reproduction, and should certainly work for any of the applications, but if you were doing a Concours Class vehicle, you might want to hold off for an original. I will say this is a very fair price for this piece. Hope this helps. Duane
