Sunday afternoon my dad went on a metal detecting outing with a bunch of like minded guys. One of them happened to be an EMT and he noticed that my dad's speech started slurring and his eyes became kind of vacant and he would just stare. He was also feeling dizzy. They took him to the hospital and after admitting him, he actually had a stroke at the hospital. He has had several mini-strokes, or TIA's in the last 18 months, but after therapy he was able to regain his speech and most of his mobility. He still had problems with his balance and his emotions were a little out of whack. Well, those were minor compared to the one that hit him Sunday. He couldn't focus, speak, or swallow. Pretty scary! As of Tuesday he has regained some speech and he is able to swallow, and his eyes are getting back to normal. But he is far from normal overall. He is 77 and has been healthy his whole life, never smoked and never drank alcohol. Been married to my mom since '63! His name is Rodney. Our whole family would greatly appreciate all of your prayers for him. Thanks for your time!!
He bud prayers sent my pops had a stroke about 5 years ago he is doing good now thank God. Hope all ends well.
Prayers for your family and Dad. Mine had a stroke/heart attack combo 2 years ago. They said the blockage had a 50/50 shot of going one way or the other. If it would've went the other we wouldn't have my Dad today. 2 months later I was up there in AK where they live visiting and got to go golfing with my Dad again. He's almost 100% back to normal now. Here's hoping your Dad has a similar experience. Sounds like he's on the right path.
A couple years ago they put a Teflon tube in his carotid artery. I thought that was supposed to keep these from happening, I guess not. My grandfather, my dad's dad made it to 96, and he was a healthy, active 96. Lived and died on the same farm where he was born. He was truly the patriarch of this family. I know we're not guaranteed a number of years, just a lifetime, whatever that may be. If we lose my dad we're gonna feel like we missed about 20 more years with him. I guess we we're just extra blessed to have my Pop Pop for 96.
Praying for your dad. My dad is 93 and just had a mini stroke. He's pretty much back to normal except for a little slur. Mikey
Phillip, God made sure there was a friend who happened to be a EMT near your dad that afternoon Wishing a healthy recovery..
