Didn’t like the way she sounded on the phone so went to see Mom at home yesterday and she was miserable & struggling to breath on ANY exertion. I took her to the hospital where they immediately took us in for an EKG which the nurse didn’t even perform after initial vitals popped up and she whisked us right over into the ER room. Her heart rate was over 220, the Doctor said he had never seen in his years anyone (especially a 98 year old!) not in much worse shape with those kinds of numbers. She has Afib & tested positive for Covid and spent the night in the ER since all other beds were full. She will have an Echo cardio gram today but the meds they gave her have regulated her heart rate to normal but they left the pads on her chest in the event her heart needed to be shocked back into rhythm. She sounded good this morning, just requesting prayers for good test results please. Lost my only brother to cancer in October & praying Mom will be around as long as possible. Thank you, Fritz
Prayers for your Mom also praying for you and the rest of your family. Thanks for letting us know my brother.
Ohhhhhhhh yes, she is a sweet looking “lil ole lady” but definitely raised from strong stock! Lol I was walking a couple miles the other day and my normal 132 heart rate somehow went to 191 and I could BARELY keep up with the dogs and finally called my wife to pick me up when my whole left side wasn’t working right. Now you read MY description at 191 & SHE was OVER 220 and she says “I am fine I am just really tired”. By the time I got her to the Suburban though it started hitting her hard though. So thankful she didn’t have a stroke or worse though! Hopefully everything will go well the rest of the day & they will release her tomorrow though. Can only have a single visitor a day so sister is with her now and Mom feels MUCH better
She honestly sounded rough on the phone last night. She was out of breath making a phone call from the bed, which definitely concerned us. The Sanger Clinic Doctor met with her early yesterday and took her for a test that she didn’t remember the name of so that was the Echocardiogram we confirmed. Hoping we have the results of that today and we added a note to please call us from Moms phone on speaker (if he comes in before visiting hours) so we can interact with the Doctor and we get it straight from the horse’s mouth so to speak. Only one visitor a day and no switching out so my sister is going again today since she drove up her & I am taking care of things on the outside (her dog, mail & talking with them via phone). Sister said that Mom sounded kind of disoriented this morning but maybe the staff kept waking her up and she is just groggy. On normal days she gets up at 4am but that’s without being awakened during the night. Anyhow, definitely concerned & not feeling real swift myself so I might need to go get a Covid test too since I take Mom her groceries,go do any work on her house or car and took her lunch the day I ended up taking her to the ER when I heard and saw her struggling to breathe. I appreciate all the prayers & well wishes,I really love that lady.
