Finally pulled the trigger on a SPX and I opted for the Qjet flange. Beautiful intake. After comparing it to my SP1 (square bore), it looks like it would benefit from some clean up work on the secondary side. Where/who should I send it to (back to TA?) and is it even necessary? I'm also going to add a set of Stage 2 SEs when they become available.

Current engine is a 462 with 67, an early B4B, 800cfm Qjet, KB 118C cam and KB headers.

    Woodie

Any cast intake can benefit from blending and cleanup work, and also porting, depending on application.

You can see where the cut for the quadrajet creates some nice edges in the port dividers unlike the Holley SP1. 16249958624472665795813910894977.jpg

The ledge on the primary side should get blended in starting at the top of the adaptor and the rework should be made to form the biggest radius that you can into the roof of the runner while shortening the length of the roof of those runners the least amount.
The flow exiting the secondary’s is at much less FPS but for peak rev’s, and as such is more able to make the turn into those runners with little flow loss.

The Golden rule of Thumb is this.

High velocity air as is coming thru the primaries can not mold itself to conform around anything tighter then a 15 degree divergent angle.
