I had a conversation with Jim Rodgers about this yesterday who on the GSCA board said GSE/GSR were done, with him concentrating on the stock appearing class. It basically comes down to car count guys, and to make it work, we need at least 8 cars. The format was changed a few years back to gain more cars and interest, and essentially, let the 11.40 guy have fun with the 9.40 guy. I think we have had some pretty decent turnouts the last few years, but w/o interest and firm commitments this year, it simply won't happen. The track really screwed up last year with not getting the clocks right and Jim got his ass chewed on yet again even though he had nothing to do with it. It's tough to remain so willing to get beat up over and over, when all you are trying to do is have fun with a bunch of good guys and not spend the entire day, waiting in line to bracket race. So with Jim's approval, let's have an honest count of who is interested in racing GSR/GSE/GSP, open comp style, at BG this year. I have four firm commitments already, and will start a list as and if others want.
John and Bruce....thanks! It wouldn't be the same without you guys. I working on some sponsorship to sweeten the deal a little. I'll let you guys know how that goes. ---------- Post added at 09:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:08 AM ---------- Jeff: The scoop is fine in GSP. Can anyone help in getting the last set of rules listed again? Chris Gosch is also joining us.
Still comes down to car count. Two originals yes's are out due to unplanned engine rebuilds taking place. I was going to bring my GSX wagon, but hurt the motor in that as well. I'm bringing my old GSE car and am hopeful on 6-8 GSE/GSP/Reunion cars but looks like we may see a few more. I'll have some new info to post here over the next few days...check in.
To sweeten the pot a little: Mike Phillips at Automotive Machine & Performance has offered $100.00 to the winner and $50.00 to the runner up towards machine work or labor. He will double it if you are a current or past customer of a complete engine, complete machine work, rotating assembly, or ported heads. This is for GS Street Eliminator, GS Pro Street, and GS Reunion which will be combined into one class, racing the same format as the stock appearing guys, which will be bracket/open comp style. Your fastest time in two qualifiers becomes your dial for all of eliminations. Hopefully, more to come. Thanks Mike! Yes, Mike. Pro-tree, but open comp style. Hope to see you and Wayne there.
