I have 67 lesabre, that im adding air ride suspension to. I want to remove the old A/C bracket but noticed it holds the alternator in place.

How do i remove this bracket and keep the alternator where its supposed to be without mis aligning it with the pulleys???

    Thanks

    skitzofrenic66 What's an Import?

oh man its much easier then buying that non-a/c bracket.

old chevies and some others actually had a spacer that was about 1/2'' diameter and long enough to maintain the space so that you could toss the bracket in the garbage. im running one on my 455 right now. it has a tab that allows a small bolt to the alternator to keep it tight. my pulley is lined up fine and holds the alternator in place without issue.

i'll take a picture of it today and post it up so you can see.

in the mean time...here is a home made deal i found from a google search

here is that bracket i mentioned earlier. i am running one on my 455 and i have a spare to clean up for my next engine. it sure simplifies the look of the alternator, if thats what you want. for me, it just helped delete my a/c :TU:

oh man!!! what!? where can you find these? summit racing?

I may be on one through ebay which comes with a power steering bracket.

Do you know anything about eliminating the smog unit and huge bracket with a smaller bracket for the power steering?

    thanks!!!

if you're in san jose, ca i believe you have a big pick-n-pull there. just peek around at older cars and trucks, you should be able to find a bracket like that. i got one of mine off a chevy engine but no idea if it was stock. the other was off an amc 360 alternator in a jeep wagoneer.

when i had my buick 350 in the car i just removed the smog pump from the power steering bracket and fabricated a small block off to go on the intake. i dont have any experience with the 340 but i assume its the same idea.

im running a buick 350 p/s bracket and pump on my 455 and it looks really clean without the smog pump but you can still see the nubs where it used to bolt on. grind/cut them off if you like but only after you road test it for a while to make sure you dont have any bad effects from removing the smog pump.

the smog pump has been off. Had it removed and plugged all the remaing holes. I just hate that huge bracket sticking out. Im trying to clean it all up.
