Planning to replace the power steering pump on my son's 72 skylark over the holiday break. Figured I might as well replace the hoses while I'm tearing into it also. Any suggestions on brands, or retailers to order from, or avoid? Just pick up the cheapest option at the local parts store? I'll need to get a new pulley as well, mine is stuck on the old pump.

If I use a store brand, I tend to stick to Napa. I also tend to stick to Gates -- where that is an option.

Don't be surprised if your favorite parts house doesn't have the pump you want. I sent mine to Cardone through Rock Auto, and had it rebuilt.. I bought an inline filter, they shipped it by itself while my pump was in Texas, so extra shipping charge there, then shipping to TX and back. All done about $97.

Gates for hoses. For a power steering pump, check with Hector on this site

You can purchase a rebuild kit and do it yourself in a short amount of time. Get the Edelmann 7910 kit from Amazon for $12 bucks. I have done several and it's quite a simple job. Rockauto has some other parts available if needed such as control valve, fitting, Pulley and they have the Gates hoses, too.
