Finally a buick powered car that isn't sh*t on Roadkill! They've had several, but I don't think that Lesabre had anything more than a 350. Not dissing 350s, but Buick needs to show some people up.

OMG, somebody get on Instagram and in no uncertain terms tell them to drain the oil immediately and pour in some 20-50 if they expect a stock set of bearing to last any amount of time when they put their typical type of beating on it. Maybe it'll last a few minutes longer. Give it a chance at least. I like the Thermoquad.

Somebody was talking about top speed car. Some Buick power top speed to shoot for. I met Freiberger down at the Maxton mile back in 2o11. He may recognize the car since he took a couple of pics for the magazine article about the event.

It’s got a 300 in it. Also roadkill garage is a bit of a different animal. They don’t really build high hp vehicles, just kind of get something that needs saving and they bring it back to life.

My post? I attempted to make mine slightly dramatic to attract attention.

Thanks, I just started following. I like the show but had no idea he had a buick project.

Also with no hood that Thermoquad will get all kinds of squirrey at top end. Even with a hood you need a baseplate if not running a filter. Qjets for some reason don't seem to mind.....

I'm not on social media, but someone needs to point out that Freiburger's '66 Special has a 300 (if it is indeed a Wildcat 310), not a 340, and that neither engine is a "Nailhead" variant. I love the show, but there's a lot of misinformation about small blocks going on on his Instagram page. :)

I noticed quite a few "thermoquad!" comments on the Instagram page. Im not familiar with this Carter carb, please enlighten me, why the excitement? is it a good carb? was it used on all the big blocks? Im a small block guy so.......

It was a phenolic resin main body carb, supposed to dissipate heat very well, sort of like aluminum. The intake charge would remain cool through the operating range compared to a cast iron or equivalent carb of the era. Please correct me if/when I'm wrong, but I believe it came on many Mopars from 65-75 or something like that.
People love or hate the combo of Chevy/Buick/Mopar in the Chevelle they are using on the show.

The main reason you’ll see those comments is stemming from Freigberger repeatedly yelling “THERMOQUADDDD” throughout different episodes in the series. It’s a running joke. I started saying it!

When I built my Son's GS350 many years ago, I used a Thermoquad and we really liked it. Easy to build and easy to tune. That car went low 14s with street radials, a 118 cam and a mild converter.

    And they blew her up...

I wonder what cam they put in it? They stuck an aluminum intake on it, headers and a cam.

with 150 nitrous it went 12.03

They were hot lapping it and clipped a bearing. But then they blamed the "Poor Buick oiling system".
