I can't comment on the "goobers" as I don't believe my robbmc pump had them, but I can say I've run his pumps, pickups, filters, and a few other offerings and all have performed absolutely top notch. Im not sure what to make of the epoxy though.

Finally got the pump installed. I double clamped the vertical section and coated the top end of the tube with Permatex black. Really paranoid about leaks. All was well with that until I started up the car.

Now I need to figure out why fuel is coming out the top of accelerator pump. I assume the float needs to be adjusted as the car floods out after 15 seconds. On the positive side it looks like the pump is pushing more fuel since I didn't have this problem before the change. Fun fun fun...at least that is what I keep telling myself.

Which pump did you get? The 550? The pressure is blowing past the needle/seat. Later Q-jets had a stronger float. Which Q-jet do you have?

Its the 550 pump. QJ is a 72-74 model from what I can tell. Part no. 7044240KA.

That should be fine. You might need a float adjustment and bigger needle/seat. My 72 Q-jet has no problem with 8-9 psi. Are you using the vapor return?

    Yes to the return line.

Output pressure should be about 7 psi. You may want to measure it.

I am going to check the needle and seat first. I am pretty sure that I hooked through one of the holes it the last time I took the carb apart and need to hang it correctly.

If you run higher fuel pressure (8-9 psi) you need to run a seat closer to stock dia. If you have a stock dia seat, then the needle may be bad.

Is the return fully open? Do you run a stock inlet filter?

I don't have a valve installed if that is what you mean. I'll double check that I didn't kink the return hose, but it was working prior to the change. The filter is stock. Thank you for the suggestions.

Any updates on how this pump performed for you?

Very clever, Torqued. Where did you purchase it from? Is a part number, price, etc. available?

As always, thank you in advance for your response.
