I may have some of those insulators here, still. I'll have a look this week. Reproductions are available, also.
I believe there are two different part numbers for these and if my memory serves me correct: one part number goes on the top and bottom and the other does the same on the other side. If that makes any sense... Duane just mentioned this in another thread recently.
Yeah the Repro's are expensive. I get mine from Steele Rubber Products. They are Decent though! If you decide to go that route I have them . . . . Correct Radiator Cushions made by Steele Rubber Products These are spendy but the most correct on the market! $50.00 Per Pair (Works on the Top or Bottom) Fits 1970 – 1972 skylark, GS & GSX These replicate GM Part #’s 1387422 & 1387423 Source – Steel Rubber Products
I did just purchase a bunch of these from a Board member that reproduced them a few years back. I can sell them for $60.00 Per Set of 4 . . . . . https://www.stage1restoration.com/product/radiator-insulator-kit-top-bottom/ These are Brand new if anyone is interested in these. I have a few sets in stock at this time.
I picked up a set from Frank and they are really nice. http://www.buickperformanceclub.com/RadiatorCushions.htm
I’ll take all 4 if I have to but would like to split them with another board member 2 each as I already bought 2 new ones last year. Please pm me.
Ray, The set has 2 different part numbers, The pieces are mirrored, so you need 2 of each. You need to make sure which ones you have if you want to make a set. Duane
Top left is the same as bottom right, just like top right is the same as bottom left. So what you are saying is you have I of each type. Duane
Ray, I have a pair of these - 1 of each part number extra. These are OEM good used parts 1236777 & 1236778. Let me know if interested. I also have some 1387423 & 13287424's Matt
According to my 11/71 published parts book .... '70 30-4000 cars got 1387423 - 2 - RH Lower, LH Upper and 1387422 -2 RH Upper, LH Lower No distinction of different motors - So All Skylark, GS GS455, Sportwagon would have gotten these two part numbers. '71 & '72 Cars (30-4000) would have used the 1236777 / 1236778 No Info given regarding 455" A-body motors for '71 or '72. 350" is all that is referred to.
