Don’t know how I didn’t see this , although my eyes are going away lol. Noticed a fairly deep score all the way around pocket that drive gear sits in ! Something foreign must’ve got caught up in there at some point. My question is , could this or will this affect oil pressure ? Sorry don’t have a pic at this time Did all oil mods to this cover as well as block too ! Any input appreciated Thx

Is it deep or just visible? Does it go all the way around both gears or just the one? Do the gears slide in and out easily or do they hang on it?

A picture really is worth a 1,000 words.

I know but covers at shop now. Just on one side , gears move fine You can feel it with fingernail and very visible I really don’t see it being an issue , but maybe I’m wrong ?

Even if it doesn't affect oil pressure, I would want to know what caused the groove.

It’s going on a fresh rebuild , maybe. Was one I had in my stash

It could effect oil volume and pressure , or manly just volume, but I would have to see a picture to tell you any more.

I always send my used covers out to have them coated. Been using Calico Coatings for this, though others do it. This is what I would do in your situation.

Max Damage I'm working on it!

What kind of coating do you apply? This is interesting. Also does this change the clearance? I suppose it would have to at least a bit?

You will have to ask the place doing the coating; it's some type of dry-film coating. Changes the clearance, but VERY minor--maybe half a thousand, at most.
