Searching For Long Lost Car

Hello everyone, I'm new here and attempting to find some info on an old Buick owned by my great grandfather.

Recently my grandfather passed away, and while going through the papers in his house I found a bill of sale for a 1971 Buick Electra. Purchased new from Herrick Buick in Wakefield, Ma. for $5250! It's the only classic car I have record of anyone owning. Here is a list of the information I have.

    Make/Model: Buick Electra 225, 4door Hardtop
    Color: Burnished Cinnamon
    VIN: 482391Y161977
    Last Location: Malden, Ma.

I'm hoping that anyone here might have some info as to the whereabouts. Even if it was scrapped, knowing it was restored and still out there would be amazing. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ask the Mass., and the surrounding states' DMVs, to run the VIN.

    Some lucky ones survive.

My 1972 started out in Vermont and had owners in Connecticut before coming home to me in Massachusetts a couple of years ago with a believable 104 k miles on the clock.

    Good luck with the search!

Yeah you're probably right. I'd at least like to know where it ended up though :)

Just to clarify - 'my' Electra was not mine originally. I do have some paperwork showing the original owner and their address. One day I'll start sleuthing for more history. It would be great to find out more about its life.

No problem! The pre-1981 vin makes it tough I guess. Definitely gonna call a few DMV's when I have some free time. I'll keep posted with what they say.

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

No clue. Just have the bill of sale. Still going through boxes of photos and documents so no telling what I'll dig up. Found a paper with just "1960 Chrysler" and "1939 Diamond T truck" written on it as well.

    1972Mach1 Just some M.M.O.G. guy.....

By having the VIN, you're miles ahead of a lot of guys trying to do the same thing as you. Good luck! (Oh, and I'd be looking for that Diamond T as much if not more than the Buick, if you've got the VIN for it, too. Those things can be big money right now.)
