    Hi:

I have a Buick project car I will never get to. I would like some advice as to how to best sell a completely disassembled Buick I have never sold a car, much less one in a million pieces.

Is Ebay worthwhile? Bring a trailer? I will not part the car so will that hurt the sale efforts?

I appreciate anyone sharing their experience.

I think it would be best to post it up with pricing, pictures, and location in the "Cars For Sale" section here, first. Get some feedback on it and if it doesn't sell here after a while, try FaceBook Market Place or Craig's list. It's worth a shot...

i agree with this^^^. post exactly what it is here with plenty of good pics of body and what is original and what is missing. these guys here will point you in the right direction. very hard to sell a COMPLETLY stripped car unless you are ok with a fire sale. its very time consuming for a buyer to pick through a parts car like this to see whats missing. if its just a basic skylark you may make more by parting it out? most of us have had failed projects, so we know where you are coming from! when you really tear these things down it is no easy task to get humpty back to together again without a big wallet and alot of time. best of luck!!!!

Bring a trailer is for finished cars only. Craigslist is dead. I agree with the above. Post it here first and then marketplace if that doesn’t work.

Depends on how quickly you want to sell it and whether or not you care who buys it (v8buick member or not).

Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace allow you and potential buyers to get a deal done quicker than v8buick, as there is no "getting in line, waiting a day or two for buyer to make a decision, getting back out of line without buying, moving on to next buyer", etc. It is an open marketplace in which you get to decide who you want to deal with (or not deal with).

Not parting the car out will hurt with the sales of parts, but will help with the sale of the entire thing, as it won't be picked over. And no matter what your ad says, people will ask you to sell them parts.

Oh, and just by posting and asking for advice, people here will message you asking if you are selling your 71 Stage 1 project and will want details of it before you actually list it. :>)

Ryans-GSX Have fun, life is short.

I have sold a lot of cars from driving to completely apart. Transporting the car is a major problem for people the want to buy it and if you sell it sometimes it takes a long time for people to be able to schedule for it to be picked up. That said as much as a pain as it is I find I do best on eBay. 2nd place goes to Marketplace/Facebook. It is the wild west and it can be a full time pain in the ass to deal with. The constant question from people that really have no interest in buying it or want to offer you a fraction of what you're asking gets old fast. Facebook works but be prepared when you list it is my advice. 3rd place is Craigslist. I have had some luck with Craigslist and it does reach many people just looking around.

I would also say even if you don't list your car on V8Buick trust me it will be found and talked about no matter where you put it... We will find the listing lol. Some of us know the Crack Spider and he has a way of finding listings of Buicks like no one else haha!!

My advice would be to at least hang the fenders, doors, hood, cplace the engine/trans in if possible. The 5-10 hours of work could result in a 1-2K additional sale.

Depends if you care what happens to it after it leaves your possession. I'd say here is the best chance of it going to someone who'll finish it.

Also depends on a lot of details starting w/what it is & how bad is the rust. Post some details/pics.

Thanks, Everyone. I noticed nobody mentioned Ebay. That was my path prior to posting here for advice.

It's easy to sell a project cheap. Almost impossible to sell a project for what you likely have into it at this point. Best practice is to assemble the car roughly as stated before, so that it has some semblance of being "complete." Lay out exactly what it has to go with it, and what you know it needs to be completed. That will give people more comfort in knowing what they're getting into.
