The serial number will be in small print on one of the corners, intake side if I recall. Unless they're a really early set and didn't get one?? Maybe Mike Tomaszewski could chime in for a better reply??

I pm'd about more info on the build of the short block with no reply. Please give me a call 4195718864. Depending on build im interest in the package.

I will be traveling to San antonio end of next month with a trailer to help a relative move.......so I'm sure it would be an easy pickup then if we can work things out

I purchase two race motors from the wife of an elderly gentleman.

Here is what I know about this motor:

It is a new build that was being put together for a new/rebuilt car.

It is sitting on a rolling cart with the oil pan and timing cover bolted on, so I have not seen the bottom end.

The machine work was done (per the wife) by Calvert Machine in Denton, Texas. Calvert is a reputable performance machine shop that is familiar with Buick motors and the oiling mods necessary. I spoke with them, but they do not maintain records of builds, so they offered no useful information.

This motor was being built as a replacement for the old Stage 1 motor, which, according to the wife, ran low 10's in the car being rebuilt (a 70-72 Skylark).

I do not know all of the details on the bottom end. The only items I know with certainty are that it has a block girdle installed and a deep sump oil pan.

The timing cover has an oil pump spacer, so I presume it has a high volume oil pump kit installed. There is no cam installed, so the timing cover was obviously bolted on just to keep dirt out of the motor.

The heads are not bolted down so on the top end I can see the ported heads, forged high compression pistons, extra Stage 2 head holes drilled and tapped, o-ringed block, copper head gaskets, and smoothed valley area. I have not taken any measurements yet, so I do not have more specific details or know the compression ratio.

Looking through the lifter valley, it appears that the motor either has aftermarket rods or stock rods with polished beams, but I won't be able to confirm that information until I get the motor on a stand and the oil pan removed.

I think some photos might be in order. I'm not interested in a purchase myself, just curious.

I'm very interested in the whole package,

I would like to know or see pictures of rods and pistons to try to figure out what is there, so for sure put me inline pending more information as we can find out

I agree that photos will be helpful, but I hate to take over someone else's thread (even though it appears the OP has stopped following it).

I have added photos to my media page.

My shop is about an hour away, so it will be this coming weekend before I can remove the heads and take better photos.

I tried to open your page but I can't get it to open. You can email any pictures to me. Branhamautomotive@yahoo.com.

This will be a perfect fill in for me to run till the new motor gets built

I am also interested in the heads and the motor, Michael if the OP and those in front of me fall out. PM headed your way.
